Description NEC Corporation and NEC Kyushu, Ltd. officially opened the world's most advanced semiconductor plant to supply Nintendo's "NINTENDO GAMECUBE" next generation game machine in Kyushu, Japan.
The new plant "Fab 9", located on the first floor of No.8 factory at NEC Kyushu, will offer 0.13-micron embedded DRAM process technology and stand as the world's most advanced semiconductor factory. The new line will have a production capability of 10,000 wafers per month and all together represents an investment of 8 billion Yen.
"Fab 9" will adopt the 0.18-micron embedded DRAM process to concentrate on producing highly advanced graphics LSI for Nintendo's next generation game machine, the "NINTENDO GAMECUBE".
