The PS3 won't reduce price anytime soon as the Cell CPU yields are very poor. So there is no die size shrink for the PS3 anytime soon. Die size shrinks are the only way to reduce cost production of a console."SOURCES CLAIM that yields of the Cell microprocessor for the Playstation 3 are not good. A process mole tells us that the Cell yields are far enough below par that the amounts of good dies off the test wafers are "horrible". -theinquirer-

So i don't see Sony bucking this 21+ year consumer buying trend. Oh. here's a example. The PSP. Better hardware then the DS. Can offer alot more for the consumer. Watch movies, listen to music. Surf the web. End result? The DS is outselling it almost 6-1. Reason? Cost. History repeated itself once again. So will this apply for the PS3. I can still buy that Lotto ticket for you if you would like?

Market research has shown time and again that consoles selling for $500+ have ALWAYS sold poorly or failed altogether. Don't believe me Anonymous? You shouldn't. Do research for yourself and see. Hardocp has graphs calculating the costs of consoles from 1979 until now including inflation rates. The result? $500+ consoles all sold poorly or failed.

Anonymous. Yes these are assumptions. However i am going by history. NO console has EVER done well when it sold for $500 or more. NEVER. Since 1979 until now, from the NEO-GEO to the 3DO, ALL consoles in that 21+ year period fared poorly at that price.

It is true that the price isn't liked by alot of people but sony are smart, they know they can sell alot to the hardcore fans upon release and once that happens the price will slowly go down and be buyable to the people who couldn't afford it orginally

Microsoft or Nintendo will take top spot this time around. Sony will be in third in sales world-wide. Price has always been the determining factor in console sales. $500+ is a killer for most. All you have to do is read around the hundred of forums and see how many people are quite upset with the $500+ price tag with no game for the PS3. That was Sony's biggest mistake.

Guruboy is correct in saying no console will bomb this generation. PS3 included. However, you will see a changing of the "guard" this generation because of the steep price of the PS3. No console selling for $500 and over has ever done well.

Who cares about argueing weather or not Nintendo is innovative or weather or not you care? Wii looks like more fun than any other next-gen. Period. That's why people want it.However, the PS3's NOT going to bomb. If you actually think any next-gen console will bomb, you are a FANBOY.

THQ and Sega are one of the biggest software house out and they did not get them from day 1. That's just plain f**ked up. I have no idea what Sony is thinking.

if what Anonymous at 16:10 says is true, sony removed it because it interferes with the waving feature then sony isn't good with thier tech, Nintendo is able to have all those features in thier controller, go do a search Anonymous at 16:10, the real reason is because of the 90mil copyright issue which is stated by the gentlemen below my post.

Murton, it had nothing to do with battery life. Sony mentioned nothing of this. define horsepower? wtf i think you mean battery life. battery life depends on the game you play. if the games got good graphics more battery usage will be used. but if not then battery will last awhile. battery life in the ds is almost the same as the ds as they both last 6 hours or more. plus noone wants to play the psp now that they seen metal gear acid for it. why the f**k would you turn a awesome game into a card based rip off? and yes hackers are managing to make the ds play mp3 video files but not real movies. the wii will overpower the ps3 just like the psp hopefully. but microsoft is lookin good so far so they might have some power.

the ds outsells psp because of the suckish games. plus the ds can do anything the psp can do. all you have to do is buy them little flash cartages and boom its all that. i dont think it supports movies though but you can play roms and music and crap on ds too. search google for ds hacks

Murton, the PS3 won't have rumble due to legal issues related to the true patent holder of rumble technology. Microsoft and Nintendo both settled their issues but Sony refuse to.The whole microphone idea would lead to a lot of background noise even from the game being played, wouldn't it?

murton did you read the article about microsoft being sued for having rumble feature in thier controller...? while nintendo had a license for that feature.i'm not too sure but thats probly the reason why sony doesn't have rumble in thier controller. The gamecube was an awesome console alot better then PS2, the only thing bad was the games being made for it, Zelda was cel shaded which was quiet dissapointing for me and not long enough but still fun, and yes if your going for amazing visuals i'd suggest you get a pc. !!!JUST LOOK AT THE BABE PLAYING WITH THE WII IN THE PIC ABOVE SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE'S HAVING AN ORGASM!!!

To Anonymous at 16:44 23/5/2006Sony wasn't forced to ditch the rumblepack in order to make the tilt functionality work but they chose to remove it to extend the battery life of their controller, even the boomerang design didn't have force feedback, but being a fanboy you probably didn't think about that.

i recall a video clip released by Sony, show us all how we will be holding this new boomerang controller!! (sorry, no links - although probably here on megagames somewhere) and it looked like you couldnt even reach some buttons."Still about the GAMES! They can claim that these stupid addons are innovative but it's about the games and power nowadays, it's the reason why technology is growing fast because more people demand more power. This could be Nintendos/Wii's downfall. " your kinda missing the point! if its about games, why are you playing the same old bulls**t again and again. Dont get me wrong, i know nintendo have their franchise games, but they offer something different every release, not JUST better graphics. If ya after beefy hardware and techs, buy a f**kin PC, probably cheaper than PS3, or even xbox 360.

The Wii is no cheap alternative to MS and Sony. Maybe in price but not in sales. MS and Sony are actually worried about how the Wii will do be early impressions at E3 and the good indications. So much so that BOTH Sony AND Microsoft publically said that you should buy a Wii AND their collective console. lol. One thing is for certain. The Wii is going to out sell them both

1. I don't think that nintendo is a cheap "alternative" to MS and Sony. I just think that its best console option for people who have gamming pc's!2. I think its gonna run on a cell phone type battery (why wouldn't it? Cheap, rechargable, and proven to last hours) 3. I think that the controler isn't really innovative, but like Apple w/ its iPod! Its easy to use and it has a fan base, also its flashy. It might not be the most powerful or most reliable. But it does it job and people love it. So its gonna sell like... well an iPod!

No, its kinda like concept cars, just because you see it, doesn't mean that it will ever be mass produced. They never said you will be playing PS3 games on the "boomerang" in 06 or ever. It really wasn't a realistic design to begin with, kinda like the original Xbox Controller "Duke".

The boomerang design was official the moment sony released pics for it. The only reason they changed it is because of the public outcry about it.This might actually be the first nintendo controller i like since the snes one. I think the N64 and GC ones were poorly designed.

People hated the boomerang design, and it was never stated to be the official controller of the PS3. Makes perfect since for Sony to continue on the "PS2 controller" design as you put it, even though it originated on the PS1. It has been the most popular controller design ever.I really dislike the new Xbox360 controller, with the new shoulder buttons....oh but wait, I guess that they ripped off some other controller that started the whole shoulder button thing, or 2 analogs and a joypad. Its the evolution of gaming, and it works well, get over yourself trying to say something that is mind blowing or bold, cause your not. I saw a working demostration at E3 of the tilt features, neither the Wii or the PS3 are ready for release yet anyways, so it really doesnt matter.

Actually. It is. Or it's pretty damn coincidental that on the Eve of Nintendo releasing details about the Wii controller, Sony started to recontruct their controller from the boomerang contraption. Funny alos how the controller restruct was exactly like the PS2 controller in everyway, excpet for the "tilt" (ripp-off) and no rumble. Sounds like a last minute change. Same design. Added "tilt"(that never worked at E3 LOL) and no time to solve the rumble "tilt" issue. Last minute indeed. We like to call that...RIPP-OFF.
