I'll believe it when I see it. As for the Sony rep's swipe that XBX doesn't offer such a feature...hello the PS2 doesn't either. It will be hella cheaper to get the XBXor X-1 to do the same.
The XBX will be selling for under $150 before that happens. Adding such a feature would be negligible to the later series of XBX's.

The N64 foamy graphics problem didn't happen on big name titles because they didn't care how much catridge memory they needed to buy! All other games that couldn't afford as much space had to compress they're textures. Neither Zelda games, Starfox 64, or any of the main titles. Only the regular games. Take either Rush game. WAY foamy. It wasn't a weakness in the system itself! It was a finacial weakness in the developers!

Tell me which one of these games are not confirmed? b/c i sure know that at they're at least already out (eg. Blinx in the states) or there is a demo for the game (eg. Battle Engine Aquila). u give me solid prove that these games are out on other systems (show me a site or something) and then i'll believe you.

hey sloose, ur back? gonna be a regular again? no? WTF happened to the page. now i have to run around the joint with my scroll key. we want the old setting back! Those games are already confirmed. when i looked at the list, maybe one or two isn't rock solid, but i think the developers have already said more than enough. also, half those games are already out in some countries, and the ones that aren't have demos already available. ofcourse teamxbox would be a one sided site, since it is "Team Xbox". but normal sites (like IGN) doesn't have the most up-to-date info, or those teeny tiny scratches of information like when Rare was first reported to be jumping ships. anyways, after visiting Team Xbox for nearly a year, i still haven't heard anything that was really biased. they have said once or twice that some games (like QR) can not be done on a PS2. but hey, thats fact, not being biased. the N64 had less polys than the PSone, but more effects. although i never got a N64, i now regret the choice of getting a PSone. apart from MGS and the FF series, i really noticed that there are nothing else that appealed to me. after i got the machine, i bought about 9 games (not including FF8 and 7) but they were all bought b/c i needed another game, not that the game was really that good. i sold them all now (apart from ff) to EB and eBay. this wouldn't have happened with the N64 i think.
N64 was a good machine, I just think the catridge medium killed its chances. My definition of the foamy graphics would have to be the slightly blurred glazed over effect on alot of the games, which I thought was put into place to get rid of any jaggies. I don't know, it might just be me. I only owned a n64 for about a year so i'm probably not the best judge.

Heh, foamy is an excellent description of the graphics of the n64. I always thought they were like that because of the n64's primitive attempt at anti-aliasing. p00_p00, play Ocarnia of Time on your pc using project64 and notice the difference.
And sabotage, the master system had some really great games that deserve some recognition (or maybe even a sequel). Plus it had a neat little card slot which I thought was amazing at the time.

well i wouldve given the SNES 100%, if i could, 110%!!!!! Thats how good it is (key word, IS, not was). Id rather play my SNES half the time, and is the only reason y i wont buy a GBA since its just a portable SNES (which i wouldnt use when i go out, but the GBA is truly a gr8 system: 80%).

Ok... I know I'm gonna get slammed on this one but I dont care...
Here are my views on each system I have owned.
1. Nintendo - Very sweet game library, fair graphics, almost usable addons. 85%
2. Master System - Fairly fun built in game, few and not all that great games, had a "I wish I was nintendo" feel about everything. Virtually NO addons. 45%
3. Super Nintendo - Had some of my favorite games to date, fairly crappy addons, had impressive life span! 90%
4. Genesis - AMAZING game vocabulary, pretty good graphics, HORRIBLE and nearly USELESS addons, maybe had a bit too long of a lifespan. 85%
5. Saturn - Had... well... a few good games, neat clock idea, should have played genesis games too cuz graphics weren't that much better, HAHAHAHA.... addons, had a well deserved short life span. 35%
6. Virtual Boy - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......hehe...he...ooohh.... 1%
7. Playstation - GREAT game vocabulary, good addons, quite good graphics for the specs, had a impressively long life span if not maybe a bit too far. 90%
8. N64 - GREAT games, with what liitle they had, graphics were slighty foamy (Just found out that the foamy effect I saw was caused by low res textures used to keep storage down, which is why it was less on larger titles), HAD SUPERB GAMES (Had to mention it again sorry), Had maybe a bit too short of a lifespan, Good addons. 80%
9. Dreamcast - Good games, had WAY too short of a lifespan, should have had tighter piracy protection, not around long enough for addons. 75%
10. Playstation 2 - Good games, good system features, so far ok addons, not nearly as stable as a console should have been on release, so far good going lifespan. 85%
11. XBOX - Ok game vocabulary, too many cell shader games (Cartoon style) and not enough POWER displays (A few, but not near enough), DVD doesn't work right out of the box(you have to buy the remote), Nice built-in features, GREAT graphics. 85%

which issue was that? i know this other mag did someting like this. i didn't say they are not biased. i said they try to sound unbiased. anyways, i believe that PS2 will win this round, and since PS3 is coming out sooner than the rest, they might have another edge in the next. in terms of 64 being shit, i never thought it was shit until i compared GE with Halo but that was inevitable. i believe that although 64 may not have had that many games, they had enough games to keep a normal person happy (they had at least one game for each genre i think). lets face it, we're probably never going to get more than 50 games for our system. as long as there's at least 3 really good games for each genre then u should be fine. ppl look too largely at the number of games, they hardly consider whether they would buy them or not. the PS2 has about 20 games (i'm trying to be generous here) that looks interesting in the shops aroung Melbourne. the 64 had more than that. the PSone (which i own) currently have no titles that appeals to me for some reason apart from the FF series. i'm not sure, but i think, Nintendo games, even when the graphics are out dated, will be playable and fun. Sony and MS games will be excellent during its life, but after they prove to be technically inferior, they will loose interest. still, these are not bad things, just that Nintendo's way of making games, are truly classic.

Well GC should b doin well but as many ppl say "the N64 bad experience". A key reason which many ppl have turned 2 PS2 or X Box. Look at DC. That was a real sweet ass console at the time. Cheaper than PS2, mre games than PS2 and a lot of developers devloping quality titles plus an established mascot. Wat pulled it down? THe Saturn experience. I always loved my 64 and never doubted it (except when i was choosin wat to buy, PS or N64) but afta i bought it, no regrets. Some ppl didnt like it cause 1) THeir friends had a PS and were always sayyin how kiddy the N64 was 2) They had a small game library since PS owners can burn their games 3) No Square 4) Not enugh games (enugh for me cvause all i wanted were the AAA or AA titles which i have all of em) 5) Catridges.... uhhhhh
That is y Nintendos fan base has depleted soooo much. At least M$ start with a clean slate however no experience in the console marekt (their console production proves it..... $AUD 800 for an X Box on release on the first day..... I dont think so, especially just when PS2 dropped its price 2 $AUD 400. That $800 was basically 2 cut costs, so they werent very effiencet. GC on the other hand could break even on the first few units (and the laws of economies of scale state that as production per unit increases, the cost per unit decreases) so they knew wat they were doin. So did Sony. All M$ need is a established franchise- which they attempt 2 do with X Box live. If that works, mre ppl will buy X Boxs

oh, and also, if we do loose DOA and if ur into fighting games, we got Kakuto Chojin. weird name, i had to double check to see if it was right, but all signs point to a great game. oh yeah, remember p00_p00 when u said XBOX probably can't do pre-rendered as well as RE for GC? check out MYST 3 coming out for the XBOX and PS2 (already out for PC). looks just as good, if not better, with much larger worlds. i saw one pic and fell in love. and its a puzzler! i love these type of complicated pandora's box kinda games. gives me a break from Halo and gang.

also, when it comes to userbase for GC, there isn't that much more compared to the XBOX. there was quite a few instances around the world where the XBOX outsold the GC by quite a bit, even in Japan! taking account of the long history of Nintendo, and their worldwide fanbase (notice fanbase, not userbase), this is not a good sign. for someone who have been in the market longer than all its competitors, they should be holding the market with an iron grip. instead, they're battling it out with the youngest and most unlikely competitor, Microsoft's XBOX! not to put down Nintendo, since i am also a fan, but u must realise the great advantage Sony and Nintendo has over Microsoft. longer history, more fans, trust of developers, the XBOX is doing great when consider how much they have accomplished when fighting an uphill battle. if u wanna do research on XBOX upcoming titles, go to a specific XBOX site to get the full story on the upcoming releases. some sites (list GameSpot) tend to either print out titles that have either been unannounced, or not put up announced ones. my favourite source is the OXM where they try to pretend not to be biased (heh heh) but still have quite good info. also check out www.teamxbox.com. don't go to the official XBOX site since they hardly ever update, and has absolutely nothing thats of interest.

u sure u did research p00_p00? read the OAXM at the local newsagent and read the upcoming games. if u really want me to type it up, i guess i'll have to, but b4 that, Wreckless is a very shit game. u all said that when it was an XBOX exclusive, and now that its coming to all, ur changing tones. sheesh. anyways, here's a small list: Quantum Redshift (trust me, its good, play it more), Halo 2, UC, JSRF, PGR 2, Splinter Cell (only on XBOX and PC), Deathrow, Evolution Racing, Blinx, Brute Force, Mech Assualt, Steel Battalion, a secret MS developed RPG for online, Buffy, Fila World Tennis, Battle Engine Aquila, Yager, PD (i think, lol), Lamborghini, Ninja Gaiden, Panzer Dragoon Orta, BC, Shenmue 2( stuff DC) and many more. this alone i think beats the number of GC exclusives, and although not all of these would be as fun as Mario Sunshine, but hey, nothing is right? Nintendo made exclusives will always be kiss arse fun, and is very different to the competitors. but just b/c XBOX and Sony doesn't have these type of games doesn't mean they don't have quality exclusives. u'll also notice that pretty much all the XBOX exclusives (apart from the possible DOA series) that has been made cross-platform, aint that good. wreckless is really appalling (the XBOX version has slower frames, but better picture qualilty, the version for the GC and PS2 has better frames but inferior pic quality), and so was Malice and...what else was there? i can't remember. halo can not be included since MS allowed Bungie, they didn't lose it. as a first party developer, they can't just jump off whenever they please.

for a while, Hitman sed M$ had a lot of exclusives, and the trusting person i am, only assumed the same. However i did some research and many of these are becoming cross platforms: IE Wreckless is on ALL 3 CONSOLES!!!! Sheesh and the GC version is much better than the X Box version lol. y? Cause it had longer 2 develop and hence mre tracks, cars and cripser graphics.
But the main exclusives M$ will have are ones that 1) Require the power of the X Box. Graphics (IE Gun Valkirie... which 4 some reason was overhyped cause i didnt like it) and the HD (Morrowind, Blinx etc. But i wouldnt b suprised if Sega releases Blinx on PS2 with its HD) 2) Companies acquired by M$ IE Rare and Bungie. Yet Bungie can make for PC and Rare on GBA....

Of course Nintendo has more exclusives then X-BOX. This is a given. And exclusives that are known and of high quality. This is the MAJOR weak area for the X-BOX. And it will get even worse if Microsoft cannot convince people to purchase more X-BOXES..... And it's a gamble for Microsoft to spend that kind of cash for a software company. Even Activision laughed at the price. Even Bungie did not sell for that price. And Nintendo has always said from day one, that it's not the amount of games it has in it's stabls, but quality. And don't be too surprised to see some of those games for the X-BOX being cancelled or just released for the other consoles because of poor X-BOX sales......

honestly at the rate that X Box is losing exclusives (so far Nintendo has only lost Rare and Turok, well Rare couldnt b helped since they didnt jump ship due 2 lack of users but..... lets just say that M$ had a nice up front cash transaction of a quarter of a billion $US hard currency in Rare's bank account.....) i wouldnt b suprised if Nintendo did have mre exclusives than X Box. But 2 b truthful, PS2 has WAY mre exclusives than X Box and GC.

also, there were many PC games that are porting to the PS2 (Deus Ex, No one lives forever etc.) and apart from the graphical inferiority, they still worked a treat. if u didn't compare them to the PC versions, u wouldn't complain, which is very important, since we all know consoles are inferior to the PC in terms of hardware, but if they still worked the way a good game works, then that should be all we need. ofcourse, then there's a question of want rather than need but ...?!? yeah...?!?

for pete's sakes, you still didn't say what was made Wipeout better. u pointed out that visually, Redshift was better, but the rest was the same. if that was so, how does that make it worse? and also, i mentioned that the game needs more getting into to get more out of it. obviously u don't own the game, so u can't judge the entirety. when it comes to tracks, Fusion has more, nearly three times the number, but the number of vehicles are the same, and they had far less upgrade potential (shields, weapons, turbos etc.), QR has more than 150! and then the graphics are better, coupled with much faster speeds. also, once again, not most of XBOX titles are PC ports, many are. not most. most PC titles are on the XBOX is more like it. there are plenty of XBOX titles that are not coming to the PC or any other console, and this sheer number alone beats the altogether number of GC titles coming, not to mention the better ports (graphically) and PC ones that will appear on the XBOX. by the end of the year in Australia, together with the near 100 titles already out, there is going to be another 150. whether or not u believe the release dates is another thing.

God's first off i did play Quantum Redshift. Unlike some people i do not judge a game unless i played it extensively. The game is the same old rehash of games like it. It's nothing special. Between the hype you would have expected more. The Wipe-out series was better. Redshift might have nicer visuals but it's basically like the same game. And the X-BOX being the greatest threat? Could be considering most of it's titles are PC PORTS. However, the X-BOX will have a hard time keeping up with the technology curve happening this year with the release of AMD'S HAMMER chip and the 9700, NV30, R350, NV35 and the up coming DIRECTX9 and 9.1......

DRDEATH said Unreal Championship (UC) will be better than Halo 2 (H2) b/c UT 2003 is pretty much the same game, and it is on the PC. H2 won't come out on PC (if at all, although thats highly possible) well after its launch for the XBOX, so DRDEATH instead of being classified as a looser who gets the games he wants later than the console counterpart, decides to steer away from the game all together. similar with Quantum Redshift. the XBOX is needless to say the biggest threat to the PC market out of all the consoles when looking at the hardware and games. so he decides to go with the PS2 and say that the Wipeout series was better than Quantum Redshift this. let me ask u, where have u played QR? if u own it, u would know that by reaching the Expert difficulty level and beyond, ur vehicles can go way beyond the speed of any other racing game currently on the market. b4 i got the game, i was warned that the game may seem slow and crap at the beginning, but it will get much better, so i was prepared, and went through about 2 hours of hardship playing around with various vehicles on the slower settings. but then, WHOOOAAA!! really, try playing the game on its final setting called Redshift and feel the force of speed.

N64's graphics sucked ass! They were ALWAYS foamy as hell, even WITH the expansion pack. There were only VERY few games that didn't suffer from this (Zelda and...... umm... Zelda....). Games like Metal Gear Solid had MUCH clearer graphics.
Oh yea... The ONLY reason why sony dominated the CONSOLE selling market was because how easy you could mod it! John Car was right about Nintendo! WAAAAAY paranoid!
And XBOX games are taking so long to release because Microsoft is taking such a HUGE chunk out of per game sales that not too many game dev's care to sink in the dough. Nintendo is about as bad!
All three systems kick ass. But they are all equal in they're own right.
FOX SUCKED!! It feels like a rehashed Zelda! I mean it has the "music and facial cam when you get something" and other "Zelda" traits! If it's an original game, MAKE IT ORIGINAL! You dont see those same things in other RPGs.
Mario Sunshine kicks ass! It has some camera angle problems, but what 3rd person game doesn't. It's like Mario64 with a point! VERY NICE! And Animal Crossing is the most strangely addictive game I've come across.
Quantum Redshift mostly sucked.
Oh yea... Some of the PS1 originals were GREAT!! Let's see... Wipout - Great, Warhawk - Great, Battle Arena Toshinden - Good, Ridge Racer - Great, Demolition Derby - Good, Jumping Flash - errr... ok, Jet Moto - Great and many other games were superb! Sony hit the nail on the head with the PS1.

But it is hard to say whether it will beat halo 2 or not, since it (ut 2003) requires high speed game play, which can not be well excecuted with a control pad. plus, halo 2 should have better visuals due to longer development time and coupled with original halo's gameplay. these are all hard to say since both have not come out yet. let me give u a little speech on human psychology:

Hmmmm i was disappointed with Blinxs score at IGn. I knew it wouldnt beat Mario but they score Blinx AND Fox poorly since they were sooooo highly antipipated. It sounds awesome and challenging and looks gr8. BUT i dont like it how 1 touch means good nite.
Oh and yeah PS2 sucked at launch. It had 4 games, with only 1 good one (tehken Tag). But it did improve quickly with GT3 etc etc

Quantum Redshift is not that great. As a matter of fact it's just a average game. The Wipe-out series was alot better. Unreal Championship will be a killer title. It will be better then HALO 2( that's my opinion if they do it right.) X-BOX needs more titles like this.

MS actually did look for a lot of games, their just coming out a little late since they're really good. the XBOX was announced in late 1999. u can't expect every company to just drop what they were doing and suddenly develope games for it, and hope it would make it to launch. most great games these days require at least 2 years, and normally 3, which explains why the promised titles are starting to appear just now (unreal Championship, Quantum Redshift (got my copy), Blinx, Mech Assualt etc). why is everyone comparing the software numbers of the XBOX and GC to the PS2? remember how many games the PS2 had during launch? and how many it had in the first year? and their quality? theres something for u to do some research on.

Genesis had more speed than the SNES and thats general knowledge. They both had same colours etc but SNES was a tad slower. Only the 64 was powerful on the market. SNES had way mre games than Genesis im sory!
Oh i suppose Nintendo was paranoid but thats wat makes SOny SOOO popolar. In aus, i know 4 a fact that 4 out of 5 gamers who did buy a PSX bought it cause u could burn games. Simple as that. And i wouldnt say Sony concentrated on quality games since they havnt made any themselves. They just grabed any oppurtunity they could (as in take any offers from developers 2 make a large library fast!)
And Sony didnt just win the crown from QUALITY games. Honestly if Nintendo had used CD medians, there will b no PS2 out now. Simple as that. Developers wouldve indefinitely stayed with Nintendo due to 1) THE POWER OF THE 64 + THE EXPANSION PACK 2) CHeap and effective storage median.
Square would never have abandoned Nintendo and neither wouldve Capcom (who was one of the SNES's biggest supporter). Nintendo just didnt c the need 2 go to CD but all the developers did since they dont have as much $$$ as Nintendo and hence they want 2 produce at the cheapest cost.

Nintendo has always been paraniod of thier customers. That is one of the reasons they liked cartridges so much. Also is why they went with the funktified discs for the Gamecube. They know how much damage John Q. Public can cause sales if hacking gets too easy.
The XBOX being superior in power is what I was talking about. The Super Nintendo had better color and speed than the Genesis. But genesis had MUCH better and more variety in games. Also, the N64 had MUCH MUCH more power than the saturn. XBOX followed Nintendo in the way they USED to play by one upping all others in hardware and looked for software later. As of now, Nintendo has learned the way of making SUPERB games. That's what won sony the title it still somewhat holds!
Now all the PC market has to learn is for hardware manufacturers to stay VERY close to the software manufactures and they could see sales that rival if not kill the console market! But this is WAY WAY in the future! Until then, I guess console gaming is the cheapest and easiest way to game.

Sloose, u back? getting bored so u wanna get dished again? heh heh. truly, i agree that this is a 'different' add-on. completely new. but hey, wait a tic, r'nt we talking about consoles? game consoles? the DVD was inevitable since the format was DVD, but hell, u don't go out of ur way to creating this kinda shit! as for p00_p00, do u wanna know why Sony succeeded with the PS? during the days of the 64 and the PSone, the 64 was originally beating the PS. larger fan-base and shit. the PS was out a year earlier (trust Sony) with tech that was beyond PC gaming at the time. that gave it a boost. it had less effects but more polys than the 64 (trust me), and then from out of no where, an onrushing of games came out. the 64 (much like the GC) had very inconsistent number of games. they had great ones like Mario 64 and 007 GE, but hey, u need more than food and water to survive right? where's the sex? where's the mature gaming and large number of titles? so PS showed something new to gamers, and dominated that era. now, even with the XBOX doing the same shit, ppl are wimps and can't jump ships b/c they're afraid of being cheated like they were with the 64. unless Sony really does something wrong (like the way Nintendo screwed up with the 64) they will always remain the dominator. which is why i am going to either jump off a bridge or destroy every Sony product i come across. the 64 was good, don't get me wrong, only problem is that their games are not enough, and can be a little immature although thats not necessarily bad.

Yes Sony may b innovative in the home system desgin (well not really compared to other companies such as Bose, Toshiba etc) but definitely not in the Console marekt. Ceminess, add ons never sell well. Sony should concemtrate on the content theat is being developed for their console instead of this so called HI-FI VCR recorder. Most people who own consoles are casual gamers and have no interest in add ons such as these. Have a add on like the 64 did....added video memerory maybe if its possible. That would be bought as that would increase performance. And for the add on to be successful Ceminess, it would have to sell at least 2 million units considering they say it shipped over 40 million PS2'S....Good luck to that Sony. I also have friends that got a PS2 and I admit that I have enjoyed playing many games on the system (GTAIII the Gundam games, hated bandicoot, VF4 was pretty sweet, I never got into MGS, and they had a plethora of RPG's mainly FFX) Anyway there was no game that made me say "I have to buy this system" so i got the Gamecube, like i first intended to and I havn't been dissapointed yet. But some interesting news I did get whilst checking my email this morning. It was a newsletter from Capcom and well here is what it said

Well, I think I'm going to have to jump on the bandwagon with guys who like PS2s. Yea, the other consoles might have better graphics, but I have to admit, some of my favorite games EVER are on ps2! Also, The PS2 would probably have better graphics than XBOX or the Gamecube if it wasn't over a year older! Consoles aren't like PC's where there are casual updates to performance! ALOT of graphical enhancements can happen in one year! Also, I have to admit! Sony has done an AMAZING job keeping up w/ the higher technology competition! I have to hand it to the Sony's marketing agents on staying competitive! Sony has always, since day one, been the company that takes the first step so that other companies can improve on it! Take the walkman for example! The first of it's kind! After that, 5 trillion imitations that were as good if not better! It's the same w/ this scenario! XBOX and Gamecube got to enhance on weaknesses the PS2 had! I will agree TOTALLY that both the XBOX and the Gamecube are more advanced, better graphics, and fewer bugs! But you have to give Sony the credit for taking that first step towards the next gen console! 9 times out of 10, Sony doesn't half ass they're equipment! And they always stand by it! That was always SEGA's problem, they would make a system and abandon it quite quickly! (Master System, Game Gear, 32X, SEGA-CD, Saturn, and Dream Cast). Just realize guys that your talking about a quite old system as compared to two quite newer systems! Just give Sony credit for having the balls to stand behind they're customers and give them the most out of they're equipment! I can honestly say that I would rather have a PS2 on my Entertainment center than a TiVo, a DVD player, a web TV, and a game console!

I dont think it is wise to trust anyone who has a first three letters that spell fuk u. Besides ps2 may seem good now but technology is moving so fast that ps2 will be the equivalent of a sega megadrive in less than 3 years. By then the digital tv recording and networking features will be built into tvs so why waste money on an addon that will be worthless in the long run. Sony should put their attention more on making good games and improving their internet gaming network which likely will be slammed with wannabe fools who think that the internet now is their new playground.
