I'd like to point out that neither x box or ps3 have dx10 and thus shader 4.0 so it'll look like dx9 MEDIUMhigh n0t actual high

crysis as graphics go looks great with a decent res with medium/high graphics, but the game is s**t, ok so the suit is fun for a while, but after a while you see through the eye candy and see another farcry, looks great, plays s**te, and multiplayer, pff, not worth a sausage.

Oh believe me i know where to buy. I just don't see myself as a mid budget buyer anymore. And if cheaps is in the 2,000 range then mother of god. Its not for me.

Notice that they say it can run NEARLY on high settings. But not VERY High settings. That makes me continue to pride my PC.

Hardware for PC is fairly cheap if you arent an idiot.Know where to buy.

Then again it does take quite a load on the wallet to be a PC gamer. I agree on that. If the hardware was cheaper. And of course i think developers on the PC market need to set requirements.

@Anon at 8:58; Well considering the machine it runs poorly on is an XPS M1730 with the extreme processor and other high end options, and that its costs around AD$5000, the engine on PC is still sub par. Other DX10 games can't use the hardware enough, while CE2 still has choke points where none should be, and still can't run with everything maxed at a reasonably stable frame rate.

If you look closely you can see where they've reworked the faces and some of the other fine details. I'm not surprised they can get it to run well, but you have to consider what they do to achieve that. If every face is cut in half on skeletal detail, even if it still looks good, that'll reduce the amount of power required. Now multiply that by 40 soldiers on the map at once in the later stages. That's a big savings. The distance trees are pretty much non-existant, etc. If you toned down the PC version in the same way they're "tailoring" (I love that sneaky word.) it would probably run like butter on a geforce 6800.

even with that. The PC version still surpasses them. The ram can be a big issue with these consoles on top of harder to code for the ps3 especially.I don't think its just piracy. I think people can't afford to game on the pc or its too much for them to handle. Not the marker for the average joe

If it weren't for piracy the PC would dominate the consoles. But in the end the PC is always a step ahead no matter what they put into a console.

Stefan, nothing in the article says that the PS3 was hard to port to because of hardware limitations, it is because the cell processor is harder to code for, the developers for the CryEngine 2 are not experienced at it. You saw the footage for MGS don't be ignorent by saying it has sub-par graphics. You make your self and your "360 fanboy" club look bad

This just goes to show you how very little they've worked on tweaking the CryEngine for the PC. They just wanted it out so we could go OOOOOH, and then tweak it and make it actually run. This is why I hate FarCry and Crysis... Their programmers dont put any time into making it run smooth, just want it looking cool. Then, when they can make more money by porting it, they actually work a little at making it run decent.

I hope that crytek can make those ps3 fanboys shut up about the true power of their s**tty console. Show them the true power with CE2, so they shutup, and now they can shutup about how amazing MGS4's graphics are, and killzone 2.

ran fine on my pc, no chokes, high detail, spend more money on your machine maybe.

I think it would say more if the game actually ran well at all on PC to start with. Given the most cutting hardware this engine still chokes, and they can't seem to fix it with patches. They may simply have been able to address some things at a more fundamental level during the port that they can't change for PC.
