This is fixed now as 2.41 is now out... Having said that no one i know including myself had any problems with 2.41 so it must have been a really strange bug.

touche! look at Wii--they've only had "a few" problems with bricking (something to do with different regions; either way its less than the thousands!). nintendo definitely does their homework before releasing updates for wii.

M3mPh1z, if Sony releases an update that bricks 2% of their consoles (which would be in the tens of thousands), you actually think that is the best they could have done? Ok, im not a fan boy but i don own a PS3, not by choince coz i won it, anyways, to the ertard that said dont they test their firmware before they send it out, dont you think before you post? the bricking has only been confirmed on 2% of PS3's the rest is PS3s that just happend to brick after and around the time of upgrading, which happens all the time, just now they see a band wagon and decide to hitch hike, and yes, PS3 fan boys game the Xbots a lot of sh1t when the RROD came along,l so they are entitled to a bit of fun, coz hey, if they own an xbox, this is the only fun they can have ;)just kiding

Isn't Sony supposed to test their new firmware updates on their own PS3's before they release it to the public? Then again, many PS3's are out of warrenty, and some owners are going to simply put their bricked-PS3's and a lot of $$$ in a box addressed to "Sony PS3 Repair Center". A clever money-making sceme, Sony. Very clever!

My xbox is only used when i chat to friends as thats all its any good for. And it makes a great flashing red light for my xmas tree. I have installed 2.40 and i have not had even one problem with and so have non of my mates. Stop being a butch of fan-boys and grow the f**k up.

genius pure genius. the xbox catch up patch, giving you all the same features dashboard functions in game, achievements and the possibility of a factory repair! i can only hope everyone who lost there saves etc will now buy a better console. the 360 as its getting better and not playing catch up!
