there creating there own demand. its an amazing market ploy and it works. plus not every one wants a used wii that might even be a rip off, from ebay. nor do they want to pay the shipping cost. as well they keep there cost down by production less. less employee's less taxes, and plants and power bills... and it all translates into a much cheaper product

Wii sucks

If there's such a shortage of Wii's, why can I find hundreds of them for sale on eBay for any given day? If you really want a Wii, spend 2 seconds and click "Buy it Now". Presto! You'll have a Wii at your front door in 3 business days after the free market rapes your wallet.

well nintendo's manufacturing capability really hasn't scaled up with time since SNES and N64 days, partially because their market share in the last two generations simply won't allow for it. Gameboy kept their heart beating for quite a while.
Anyway, their day-to-day production can't keep pace with demand, it's still annoying to try and find a Wii in many places on a regular day, much less holiday season. So if you're planning to get one, get it before the fall rush.

Hang on a minute, this thing has been in production how long now? And still supply is failing to meet demand, since almost everyone I know already has one it's a safe bet that demand isn't increasing, so this begs the question "why is Nintendo deliberately failing to supply demand after almost two years?
