Ok first things first, Xbox rules to consoles along side the PS2, no doubt about that, the **NEW** PSP will dominate and as said before the Price is posted before 199.99 USD, there is a rechargable battery and should last for about 6 hours listening to music...i think, or playing games, anywayz, Have u ever seen a iPOD with Color games? Color Screen? 7.1 Stereo Speakers? Great Graphics? and lastly the ability to have Wirless internet to support online gaming and multiplayer?...i don't think so, if people can afford to buy an iPOD for 300$, or even a 250$ iPOD mini, just to play songs, i am sure that consumers would definately buy the PSP

and yet.....all of you think that you're smarter than a major company like Sony. Citing "market studies" means jack, the fact of the matter is sony conducts market studies and the money is out there, people are dropping 50$ for each game and the average gamer buy 2.5 games a month. That means people are willing to pay for these devices....besides, Sony has an amazing marketing abilty....a company has never remained on top for more than one generation (of console).

Strador - So you're saying that just because the gamecube uses smaller discs than the PS2 it sucks? That is a very ignorant statement and it's pretty much laughable. The fact that Nintendo can put a whole game on a disc that small is amazing.

I have to say that nintendo plain out sucks. The main thing that prooves it is the fact game cube uses the small cds. While as of right now PS2 for the most part is able to use dvds. I really think this PSP is going to be an interesting release. If they make it with a lot of battery power I think i will be a good sale. And the fact that i could wireless network is even better.

Nintendo all the way.....what is sony trying to pull off??? CD's in a portable. Pick up a CD player press play, then turn it upside down??? What r they up too?? Nintendo has a new GB and Console on the way. 6 Billion dollars USD was spent on it. don't ask me for release dates though because i don't know.

Even if all these new gadgets with all these features are better value for the money. The bottom line is this. These systms are to play games first. And the other stuff second. And you will pay for the second stuff. Cell Phone users will not pay 200-300 bucks for a hand-held that's a phone. They will buy a phone that just plays basic games and stuff. PSP. Too many options for people to care about. Which increases the price upward. Most people buy consoles or hand-helds JUST TO PLAY GAMES. Proven time and again through numerous and numerous marketing studies. These companies NEVER learn.

NONE the whole reason for creating something is to make $$$$$ so stop calling sony a greedy company for playing their cards right and making a shit load of money off of playstation.

HAHAHAHHAAHAH you dumb f**ks as if you'll buy the PSP and wanna hook it up to your home theater system F**ken bastards heard of a console like piece of poo, gaycube or the best XBOX hahahahah i dont think Sony would allow PSP to be hooked up with your t.v otherwise its gonna be just like a console with the very repetitive games for it like another tomb raider or another tekken for PSP pffft hahahahah and if Sony would allow it to be hooked there just gonna be so F**ken stupid your better off waiting for xbox2 or ps3.As if if your gonna take a piece of crap around the street that cost like f**ken 200 USD pffft.

Yeah but the N-Gage is also a cell phone so you have to subtract the price of one of those from the N-Gage price. It's more value for money.

Won't fly. Nope. The energy consumption will be a killer to supply the juice to run those processors. And that's just the start of it. Opticle disks also? The visual screen? Major energy eater. And the biggest killer of them all. The price. For a full console. No problems. But this cost for a hand-held? No way. This has been proven in the past. Turbo Graphix16 hand-held. Far better the GaneBoy. Better then Sega's hand-held. But died because it costs too much money. The majprity of people buying hand-helds are Parents. This is the demographics these gaming devices are targeted for. And most parents will not pay $150-$250+ for a hand-held console when the bigger brother is cheaper or the same. And this is the same thing that's going to kill the Nokia hand-held also.

BAH! I rekon PSP will be beaten back to a hastily retreat by Ninty, and besides it does sound to goddamn expensive but it does sound like a cool little system...but for now I'd stick with my GBA! Sony's just getting too c**ky...it's facing strong competition from Ninty and Microsoft in the console war and it still expects to put up a strong resistance on both fronts? Besides PS2 sucks ass... GTAVC is on PC now, and GC and XBox are far better games consoles especially for games and reliabiltiy!

the battery is rechargable, it uses lithium ion batteries.the wireless function is gonna kick though, especially if you can access the internet with it, or can access a wireless hub of sorts to give you some range, like at a university thats all wireless networked, then you coulf play with people really far away from you . . thatd be cool

Sounds like a cool system but I don't know if discs and handhelds will work too well. They couldput it in a plastic case ala floppy disc to keep in better shape but still not as durable as cartridges. And the price tag will keep the gameboy on top I think. I'm glad this is happening though, now GameBoy has to give us 3d games. Im waiting on the next gen GB. Nokia won't make it. It will come down to GB and PSP. They should both stay around. I dont want or think that one will run the other out of the market.

Oh great psp Starting handheld.... is X-box gonna start to. I have to agree so far to the 2 questions, Well if this is so, nintendo still has favorites such as zelda and the Classics, and gba doesnt even load... this on will , and one more thing it moastlikeley have stuff like E-reader and compatibility with gamecube (mabey other games i dun know) and gam,es stuff like that, plaus they have old gameboy games that can be played on the new giving it a boost. And for all the graphics and stuff it might be ALOT OF $$$!

Ok I've got a couple of problems with this. 1. How the fukc is the battery going to supply this thing? Especially with the disks instead of carts? 2. What use is 7.1 sound and kickass graphics on tiny little screen and speakers? UNLESS... Sony is going to release a TV/AMP adapter that lets you connect this handheld to your home entertainment system, AND they start porting PS2 games. That would justify the price, the graphics, the sound and the power consumption of this little beast and open up a whole new market.

well, looks like its war! will be interesting to see how this handheld warefare will go. such as how and if nintendo will counter. that nokia handheld doesn't stand a chance. i personally thought it was silly in the first place. i'm expecting something like sunglasses for vision with a thin wire coming out of it that is connected into a small md player sized box, i guess the buttons should be on the little box also. thats what i'm hoping to see sometime in the future of handheld gamming. *muhahahaha....haha....ha* wouldn't that be cool.

Well it seems like an awesome handheld. But, I have 2 concerns.1. What will be the cost of the system and games? If its two expensive, it'll never beat gameboy. 2. Battery power. What kind of batteries will this thing use and how long will it last. It seems that it'll need alot of battery power for such a powerful system.

I hope that this little beast will have an video out put, so much power confined in handheld. About the games, I guess some developers will do a great job, the resourses they have! (faster than a psone! as fast as a ps2!) and I hope too that this little beast will have more than 4 buttons.
