Conclusion
Is the Playstation 2 worth it? Is it worth $350? Yes. $300? You must buy. Especially if you don't have a DVD player, and have a whole bunch of old Playstation 1 cd's laying around, and you love games. I don't play games on my PC anymore, because the Playstation 2 graphics are far superior. So many people tell me that the PC is unbeatable; in some ways, yes, but in games, the Playstation 2 dominates the world. I know the X-Box is coming out. But 200-300 million polygons? In a year, that might be possible, but that's a year. And gamers want games NOW. Like me. How can you wait while the kid next door has a Playstation 2 and you don't?

Um..........It is 9:06Pm Wendsday night and I was just at FRY's Electronics and saw first hand the PSX2 with Techen 3 loaded and running...............Huge dissapointment instore for all the PSX2 gamers who are waiting for it to be released. They had a Sega Dream Cast right next to it with Techen 3 and the sega looked hella better!! I mean give me a break it wasn't even really impressive to be quiet honest for all the hype thats been going on about the PSX2's!!!!!!!!!!!PC's Rock on!!!!!!!!

Ok "Mr.Know-it-All" PC Gamer, why don't you shut your damn mouth. I understand you enjoy hearing yourself talk or in this case see yourself type but you look like a damn fool! I agree with BH about consoles are different from PCs. I myself am a hardcore pc gamer, been playing since the days of 286s and cga graphics and I love my pc. But you can't say that a pc is "better" than a console. For one thing it costs at least 3-4 times as much, becomes outdated quickly and is limited the fact that developers have to make games that will work with a wide variety of hardware, this causes incompatiblities. Consoles developers on the other hand know exactly what their working with, therefore they can take more advantage of the hardware. As for the type of games, pcs and console have different generes of games, consoles have better sports titles, arcade and fighting games. Pc's have better RPG's and First person shooters. As for the X-Box, all I have to say is **** that money grubbing, shitty operating sytem pushing Bill Gates!!!!!

Console gaming is so exciting to me, Hey I'm 70 yrs old, not much else I can do will my life. Wife and I are tooooo old to have sex. Probally dangerous for us both (just too old).
Anyway I'm nagging my wife of being married to her for over 30ys to buy me a Playsation 2... Guess what she bought me instead? Playstation 1! Oh well I guess I going to have to take it back at Wal-mart. And exchange it for the Playstation 2... Happy Gaming everybody!

Plus I just got the Metal Gear Solid 2 DVD demo and the demo looks better than the game itself. Well the game seems to incorporate FMV graphics into the main game itself. Atleast it's what it looks like.

PS2 does have some draw backs i've noticed. It does have a little slow downs here and there but most of the time you may not notice it until you try to make the system slow down. I've been playing Tekken Tag Tournamen now for about 2 months now and have seen no slowdowns.......but some driving games I've heard that there are slow downs. But even if you don't like Playstation games you can still view movies. The picture quality is really OK.....it's not the best, not the worst it just sits in the middle. I feel it's by preference and I bought it because it allows me to watch both Region 1 and Region 2 DVDs which is a major advantage because you don't usually walk into a store a pay $300 bucks for a DVD player that plays more than one region.

Gaming also has it benifits. All my friends, yes my old friends like me (over 60) are having motor skill problem like the shakes! I myself is still steady like a rock. Thou... I not claming that I have the coordination or speed of a 16yr old. I just do not have the problems my peers have. My reflex is also much faster than my peers.
I owe this to playing games since the early 80's. So gaming does have it's value after all........
Anyway that's all folks....

you all are really backward. You all need to stop bagging each console and think about the games on it, in that case pc wins because it practically has all the games on every console(i.e roms and emulators)also the dvd feature on the ps2 is rumored to have very bad performance, word is the picture is murky and has bad sound quality. Personally if i had to choose a gaming platform i would choose the pc, mainly because i havent been screwed by them yet. When my PSX went on the blink it was 1 month out of warranty, i sent it off to find the bill was the original cost of the console! They then told me my console was 'misplaced' and many arguements and harrasing phonecalls ensued and finally i got it back. With my latest console the Dreamcast i put all my money on the console only to have a totally ****ed up launch, well here in aus at least, and no games! i had to wait a further week for my game and about 6 months for my spare controller and mem card! Anyways back to the original point dont be suckered in by sony, they will take you, totally **** you and leave you ass up and short of cash. Stick with the PC ppl its the only system that is guarenteed to stick around.

My question for all of you with the PC's are obsolete after 2 months of purchase, what piece of shit systems are you purchasing. I run most of my PC's for about 1.5 years before I have to get a new onem that is without new upgrades [ie. Video card, processor, soundcard]. Pc's can have a large shelf life, if you build it to the best of the market during its conception, not some pre-frabricated job at your local computer store. Another thing I have noticed is the debate that Windows crashes every 15 minutes or so, which is total bullshit on the part of you computer nazi's. I run my PC 24/7 and also stress play games, which means playing games none stop for several hours [generally for 3 to 4 hours in one setting] and barely have crashes. Keep up on your drivers and you will be set. I will personally be buying the PS 2 for the fact that the game types and country of origin are different than the PC [there are generally only US and Canadian games on the PC while conosles have all spectrums developing games].

Mr. Diablos, Consoles may be optimized, and more fun, but in the end they are still computers... And over the next couple decades what we'll proabably see is a merging of the console and the home computer-- not a winner one way or another. By the way, XBox will definetly out-muscle the PS2, but it's games will likely be dead boring in comparison with GameCube or PS2.
