Blue-ray and hd dvd have both been canceled, check ign for an article, they(sony & toshiba i think) are colaborating on a new format instead, which means i highly doubt any console will use blue-ray or hd dvd.Also PS3 "will" most likely not run on a cell processor over 4 ghz, it will become to hot, sony tried this out and they reached a max 4,6 ghz, this lead to massive heat and power consumtion. Revolution is going to include somekind of wifi type system, and use wireless controllers.

I don't completely agree with Piggus here, although the Blu-Ray discs show lots of promise, as compared to the Xbox 2's format, you won't probably see any difference unless you compare 'exclusive' games. Because companies that produce games for multiple platforms have to meet the demands and satisfaction of all 3 consoles, they usually don't make one version significantly better than the others. I agree with Mr. Anonymous *before me* that tinkering with PC's can really heighten the potency of it and bring out the potential, something you cannot do with a gaming console. One thing to keep in mind is that when companies are making games for console's, they can make them run a lot more smooth (....I mean come on a PC that was as weak as the PS2 is wouldn't even hardly run Window's XP with as little ram as it has) than PC's, for the sole reason that they are designing it to run on one system, chipset, processor, GPU, etc. They don't have to make it capable to run on such a variety as they do on PC, so PC's have to be a lot more powerful to pull the smooth framerates you can get on a console (usually unless there is poor designers making the game). I honestly think that PC's will definatly be just as, and most likely, more advanced by the time the PS3, Xbox2, and Nintendo Revolution hit the store stands. If only for the simple fact of once they make the console, they can't upgrade it in mid shipment, once it's made, it's made. No turning back once it's shipped. PC's however change almost constantly, you can vastly improve your performance by simply buying a new motherboard and processor/ram/GPU...as with a console you cannot.

Get off your high horse, thinking your so much better, claiming who does and doesn't know shit. Trust me, my PC IS more powerful then the up and coming systems. If you had any idea what we do where I work, you'd understand that with the new tech poping up, stuff I'm sure you even haven't heard of yet, can be used to optimise a PC beyond the powers of the PS3, and I'm positive the xbox next as well. Though it takes more then just building the PC and knowing how to set it up, it takes the right skills in PC electronics to do a custom mod job on the system board, and it may be slopy at first, but I mean, look at the people who broke the benchmark record by useing a custom setup. You can modify anything on a PC as long as you know how to do it. And the work thats being done right now will be on the market sooner then you think.

I swear to god, more than half of you are completely retarded. Do any of you know how to type? Just look at it this way: The PS3 is using Blu-Ray. That's 50 gigs for a dual layer disk. There is also a 200 gig 8 layer disk in developement. Xbox 2 is using DVD 9. That's what... 15 gigs max for dual layer? Hmmm... I wonder what system will have larger games? Sure, by the looks of it many of you are too stupid to compare those numbers. And for those who think their PC is more powerfull than these systems: You obviously don't know anything about PC hardware and you probably didn't pay for nor build your own computer. The home PC capable of running at the same or higher performance levels of the PS3 and Xbox 2 doesn't even exist. And it will not exist for quite some time. I love my PC. PCs are great for gaming however they were not designed to play games. Anyone who says consoles are for "casual gamers" is a completely wrong. Most gamers own at least one console. Lastly, whoever said the PSP is low quality needs to know someting about the PSP. For one, the screen was not built by Sony. It was built by Sharp. It is also of higher quality, brightness, and resolution than the screens you find on most DVD players. I have two permenantly light pixels on my PSP. They are so small that you cannot see them no matter how hard you try when you are playing a game or watching a movie. So yeah... Most of you don't know what you're talking about. Your bad spelling, puncuation, grammar, and use of acronyms seems to compliment your stupidity aswell.

Best single player fps games because consoles haven't been part of the internet community for very long.
Best racers because I think alot of people prefer to play racers with a controller and not keyboard/mouse or joystick for that matter.
But for the RPGs, I find it more entertaining playing online mmorpgs with other people then sitting there going through a console rpg thats more like a story book then an actual game. Though some consol rpgs will always be awesome and definded alot of standards in my eyes.
You also forgot strategy games, I'm prety sure the pc dominates in this area. I dunno about consols being like PCs in the future, though replacing and getting newer ram, video, and a processor would extend the life of a consol, you still end up paying extra just to be able to play the newer games. A consol like that would be just another variation of the PC, kinda like a mac.

I really don't think it would be a wise move from MS to release multiply version of the same console (with and without a hard drive)The entire theory behind consoles is that everyone has the same hardware, which devs. can design for, which improves the performance of games. And they are planning on releasing drastically different version of the next xbox? And why are they even considering removing the hard drive at all? The way one of the big selling features on the xbox, you should save songs to your console and game, never with any need to bother with memory cards. And now they are taking it out... this makes even less sense... the only reason I can see for them doing this is because they were so annoyed at people being able to install linux onto the Xbox. So they are planning on have 3 CPUs in the xbox2? This also seems like it would generate a lot of heat, and its only plastic. It looks like they are still up to their old tricks with this version of the xbox, where there are all of these other little fees you have to pay for to get everything to work. Like the DVD dongle on the first XBOX, that really annoyed me, just MS trying to get some more money out of you.

I thought about this. If the xbox2 is supposed to do a teraflop, how's it going to manage this with 3 2-3 core cpus at around 3ghz?I mean the cell has 9 cores per chip as such and is supposed to only be able to do around that (a control core that can proccess 2 operations per cycle and 8 smaller cores that can proccess 1 operation per cycle) An this is even expandable due to the chip's architecture, i.e. that wsa based on a 90nm version of the chip and sony have access to 65nm and 45nm. Tommorows pcs... im not so sure, AMD are just about to release duel core cpus lol, i mean, that's 7 cores shy and all the new consoles are already based on 64-bit architecture. I like the idea of this built in physics pu but would it not have limited upgradability? This is why i like the cell so much.
It can run many OSs (CONCURENTLY!!!) and can emulate hardware very well. I.e. it's going to be king of platform emulation, i'm willing to bet it'll end up being able to run microsoft windows XP just asa well as a pc atm. Also the entirely new architecture is great. It removes most current bottlenecks, and is designed to function with more cpus (over a network too) this removes so much crap in the middle, speeding the whole proccess up a LOT. It's the concept of multithreading really. Not only can each cpu handle 10 concurent threads, but if done over a network imagine the scale of cpu saving. At some point a process goes into wait or shuts down, and the cpu does not always use every clock cycle efficiently, imagine saving these clock cycles over a network by running other peoples tasks and visa versa, you would get a big power bump.

To be quite honest i couldnt give a flying fck about the new consoles.In the past i bought em all untill i realised i was spending a fortune on the damn games that werent even up to pc standard.so i went out and bought a good pc..Much better value in long term.Built a new gameing PC since then with all the money i saved buying the cheap games!Ive just ordered a 6800 GT to replace my 9800pro..expensive? no like i said saved money not buying all that damn expensive console crap!

My Theory for consoles:PSP are for more mature gamers.
DS are for more kid gamers. XBOX2 is powerfull.
PS3 is powerfull.
More powerfull than today's PC. Yes.
Tomorrows PC? Big No. Why I came up with that theory for handhelds?
Simple. Nintendo marketed the DS with "touch" slogans and commercials with stories like "your parents told you not to touch this and that....so you can touch the DS all you want". Basically aim at kid gamers who their parents always scold at you. Yea you remember those days right?
PSP is aimed for PC owners who likes console games. Who are those people? Us who post on Megagames.com. What 10 year old can rip DVD from VOB to MPEG to MP4? Not alot. Most of them uses their parent's PC which has parental controls. About Xbox2 and PS3, ofcoarse they will be stronger that PCs today because they will use PC today's technology and some. An Xbox back then was comparable to PCs at that time. Though it didn't last long. CELL core looks promising but remember, it's new technology. I am sure I would hate to program new games for a new technology that hasn't been iron out the bugs on the hardware level. Cell technology is SO fresh from the fabrication oven, expect the first games to come out for it to not fully utilize the technology till later on. It will be like SLI technology. It's powerfull but it's practically useless for today's games,except for Half-Life 2.

well BANZI i just have to tell you that sony is just about crap at all thier products!
Thier T.V's are crap and hell expensive, i've seen LG and panasonic T.V's to be WAY better then sony. I've never seen a sony PC so far so we can just set that one out. Sony can just F off from the car stereo department CUZ they SUCK!!! Thier subs and speakers are shity! Subs get busted easily when puttin bassy music, it says 1200w but actually only goes up to 400w to 550w even though you have an amp capable of 1000w, get alpine instead, they are WAY better!
lol my friend went to buy a PSP yesterday, he came back with a DS,
i asked him y, he said "WTF man they wanna rip us off or sumfin, the PSP costs 400bucks-DS is only 250, i'm not gonna buy that expensive thing"
so it shows that the price of systems plays a huge part.
i'm pretty sure nintendo has billions of dollars cuz nintendo is one of the biggest software development campany in the world,
nintendo has always kept high spec systems, so we'll have to see when they show prototypes on may E3.

Nintendo dont have the R&D money to come up with a system more powerful than Sony or Microsoft period.While Sony produce your TV, PC, car stereo and speakers and Microsoft is in 90% on PC, Nintendo just do games. Its no new news that they money they were generating is derivated from profits made in the handheld arena, a market dominated by them for more that 14 years and that until now a real threat has appeard with the launching of the PSP. Sony is aggressive as hell throwing all the latest technology into their systems PS3 and PSP. But Sony have a problem that comes from within... They are so BIG that they are a heavily fragmented company. They are full of sub-divisions that cohesive planning witthin deparments is hard. Why you think that Sony has been relunctant to support MP3 up to now? the MP3 players made by them to compete with the Ipod are not out yet. Tape, Sony is king. CD Sony is King. Digital Music Apple Ipod is the king... err... WHAT?!?! Sony has been defeated with its Walkman arena by Apple? And the sad thing is becasue they didnt even tried to challengein a market thay could have easly won if it werent for their now then support to ATTRACT3 music files. Sony have the hardware to beat Nintendo in handhelds becasue they have mp3,music,games and movies on a single device. The catch? They have to educate the Average Joe in what the PSP can Do. File conversion between MPEG to MP4 is something pretty hard to understand for the masses. The other thing. PSP has been the porest launch in videogames EvER. Retailers arent selling the PSP as they planned. and thats part due to no advertisment whatsoever for the console. I have just seen one TV ad and until the end I didnt knew it was about the PSP. True they are selling in some places as hotcakes in specialty stores and hardcore gaming stores but in the Walmarts and Kmarts and Target and Bestbuy people dont even know what the thing is becasue they have not been educated enough to know

i have found ALOT of NINTENDO games to be quiet exciting.
yes you can see from the gamecube that NINTENDO always have a good spec console, i was mearly comparing the rumoured spec of the REVOLUTION to the other three contenders. it's surprising to see that a playstation is gonna have some serious hardware this time round but it comes down to the cost of a playstation, if it is as powerfull as a supercomputer of today then it surely will be having a price tag of 800 and above.

wow, from all this PS3 seems to be the most powerfullest but if microsoft claims that the Xbox2 will be capable of 1teraflop then Xbox2 is clearly the powerfullest, processor wise.
Nintendo seems to be the weakest from all three, but i think they have finally got the console everyone wants-------wireless play,powerfull hardware plus this revolution they say it's gonna make.
i hope it has ton's of mature games on release plus cheap price.
if it has all of the above then i'll but it for sure!
