impressing score, but useless. so that's the nv45's limit. it will be interesting to see how well two g70 will perform, and as for the x850 is better than the 6800u, look at performance/image quality ratio in game like far cry, splinter cell chaos theory etc. ati should've implented sm30 into the x800 series, as well es fp16/32 rendering.

A major plus for ATI's version of SLI. HUGE. Something Nvidia's SLI CANNOT DO. And one major reason why i would not buy Nvidia's SLI setup.

lol Knowswhathestalkingabout ur the retard, he said he got 12,000 on 3dmark03 not 01, and it didnt say it was 05 anyway so its a fair question

also i gotta say sli is a waste of money.

every game out now will play perfect on an x850 or 6600 and by the time games are out that begin to run slow, the R520 will be available and will blow sli away for half the price.

why do people still believe that, the human eye can see over 60fps. its a lie you cant.

Bon G's

at 3:16 3/4/2005

Shame the human-eye cant see more than 60fps, Overclock my eyes and I'd be impressed...Waste of farking time and money.

sigh, this just proves gaming community has no clue when it comes to hardware. Some retard earlier mentioned 12k 01marks when its 05. That equates to about 50000 01 marks. Asides from that, this is a WORLD RECORD. That means the whole POINT is to use extreme measures to get extreme results. ppl dont attempt world records so they can GET VALUE FOR MONEY, or run reliable systems. They do it to be the best in the world u fukn fools. And to the stupid shit who said the following
"What we need to see are the real results w/t all that bullshit exotic cooling."
This isnt a f**king review, they post reviews on review sites. This is the news section for news. in this case the current WR for Gpu's... if u want a review google "6800gt review" you twat.

Any article about video cards here merely proves one thing - the world is full of fanboy morons.......and that perhaps intelligence testing should be required if people wish to access the internet. To think that there was a time when intelligent conversation was possible online..........oh well.

This article sucks. Who cares about breaking the facking benchmark records. MEGAGAMES is bias against ATi since day one! Beicth

what a waste

my 850xt runs everything
in full detail
and will handle quake4/battlefield2/stalker/UT and what ever else is gonna be thrown at it this year no problem.
games are falling behind.
buy a clue.

"ATI Can't come up with thier own SLI set up because SLI is what is known as proprietary technology!"

actually, ur just a little nvidia fanboy that knows noithing about ATi. ATi has and HAS HAD whats called multi-rendering for years which allows not one, not two but as many cards as u want running at once. And i believe, if im not mistaken, 4 cards is better than 2? 5 cards is btter than 2? 30 cards is better than 2?

wow, so i can trade in my 9800 pro for dual sli nvidia...after upgrading my computer to the newest everything in the world..hrmm, well i guess its worth a few thousand just so i can get that nice number in 3dmark, wonder if halo's fps will be noticbly better than the stupid high number i get already..

Oh how Nvidia will have it's hands full this year(late May-June) with the NV45(6800 SERIES) vs. the R520 and possible 32 pipelines and Multi-rendering.
"You can imagine that twice as much pipelines from R420 generation can result with almost twice the performance that we saw with the Radeon X800 generation of cards. This will be creepily fast and one R520 can possibly give two NV45 a run for their money.

If this is not fast enough for you, you will be able to plug two cards in and have 48 or even 64 pipelines rendering your graphics at once. If ATI Multi rendering becomes ready this summer and R520 turns out good and fast, Nvidia's SLI will definitely have some nasty competition."

"HEXUS.right2reply
Serene Hsu, GeCube's Sales and Marketing Manager, had this to say about the article.
As Hexus pointed out when the card launched, ATI's Radeon X850 XT PE is the fastest graphics card in the world. In our own testing - across a spread of 20 leading games - this card wins the vast majority of head-to-head tests with the competition's closest product. What is more amazing is that the traditional competitor now costs up to #70 more than the GeCube solution. This new price from GeCube puts the X850 XT PE in a similar price bracket to the 6800GT ! The price is also similar to a 6600GT SLi set-up, but the X850 XT PE is much, much quicker. We are very proud that the GeCube card managed an average of almost 60 frames per second in Doom 3. The in-game frame limit is 60 frames per second and our X850 XT PE delivers that level of performance - on average - throughout the whole game. If you are serious about gaming, then you must consider the X850 XT PE from GeCube at only £320 excluding VAT!"

GEE, benchmarks. Show me those recodrs in games then i will be impressed. 3dmarks, aquamarks, shadermarks, sismarks and the likes...ARE NOT GAMES! When SLI can give me 2x performance in most games(at least 80%) then i will buy it. At this time, you never get double performance. As a matter a fact, the XT850PE only falls behind the SLI 6800Ultra by few FPS in those games it does support. And even in some sli supported games, the XT850PE beats it out. $499 card which offers similar performance or $1200 for a sli setup with 2 cards and motherboard that wins putright ONLY IN BENCHMARKS and not games.

"ATI Can't come up with thier own SLI set up because SLI is what is known as proprietary technology!"

They already have it up and running for more then 3 years. The U.S. army has been using it for simulations for sometime now. Their multi-rendering gpu's can connect more then 2 gpu's together.
The Army actually used 34 9700pros together. It's similar to SLI, but using a different approach.

sounds like when ati use dry ice to overclock the card to break the record before.

The SLI from 3DFX and the nVidia's take on it are very different.

SLI from 3DFX used 1 card to render vertical, and 1 card to render horizontal. It wasn't very memory efficient since many of the textures had to be loaded on the ram of both cards.

nVidia's take on SLI is much more efficient. Now they share tasks intelligently. Maybe one will take care of lighting, while others take care of bumpmaps. This lets 1 card load textures and the other load other Graphics info."
LMAO
Seriously, read up on things, Nvidias one is exactly what you described for the 3dfx one.. typical Megagames n00bs

But what realy annoys me is that nothing about hte rest of the system was mentioned...

ati is coming out with SLI i think boards are out for Intel already. Who cares ? R500 hopes out, 2x R500 and bye bye Nvidias 2/4/6/8/28 Card SLI setup.

Have heard roomors of ATI having dual core tehnology for quite some time, if its true, they may utlizie it in near future and shatter everything.

all i can say is this come one mega games sure nvidia has market at moment but for christs sake we need to see news about ati, sis, matrox? you know companies besides nvidia.
oh and dont mention mac's as there just crap. :) mac=apple
if you buy a mac format it and put linux on it :) thats all there good for.

All these benchmarks aren't worth shit not only because 3dmark is junk but because these cooling methods are only good for an hour or so. What we need to see are the real results w/t all that bullshit exotic cooling.

And with SLI, nVidia has a patent on it so ATI can't just come up with SLI. They'd have to come up with something similar...

yeah, b ut only a few gamers will be salivating, put it this way, what costs £1000's now with liquid nitrogen cooling will be standard in 18 months time....but people will still waste the money
