The R520 will be substantial faster. The intial scores released for the R520 are false. That site had a bone to pick with ATI and used a overclocked XT850PE for the test. jUST LOOK AT THE SCORES. tHEY ARE QUITE ODD.....

what r520 has 16 pipelines only! damn its crap
even now the cut down version of 7800gtx has 20 pipelines with a reasonable price!! hahha
here in uk it costs around £270
even with 17.5% tax!, which still outperforms all then cards available in the market, referring to the becnmarks which i've seen in some magazines!!
And dont forget guys nvidia will cut down the prices of their 7800gtx/gt as soon as ati releases r500 series.
CONCOLUSION: Nvidia wins both ways, especially the price they'll be offering that time!!

Cheap answers as "it has 24 pipelines", why having that much when an ATi can have the same or even better results with less?nVidia launched a "double" graphic card, not that you need 2 to attemps to reach 1 ATi graphic card. Who invented most of the graphic card today technologies or first to integrate them? ATi (PCI-Express, GDDR3, CrossFire motherboard, HD Chip, ...) I could continue on and on...

i own a x800pro, much better thn 6800gt. but,lets see...when nvidia launched sli, it was because it cant challenge the powerfuls ati 9800xt, x800...(do you remember that?)so "lets fight 2 to 1..." would said nvidia engineers... dirty strategywith the new ati & crossfire...nvidia 7800'll take a big kick in the a*s...lets see...

It was nice back in the day when you only had 2 cards to choose from... and each generation you could actually tell a difference in quality.. but NOO not now.. lets see how many different BS cards we can put out and confuse the sh*t out of everyone over minimal increases and sometime decreases in quality.

the r515 will have 4 pipelines on the "le" and 6 to 8 for the "pro".the r530 will have 12 pipelines on the "pro" and 16 for the "xt" (should be cheaper than the 7800, at 256mb of ram, but almost the same power level) the r520 will have 24 pipelines on the "pro" and 32 for the "xt" (should be the fastest card out) not all of the cards will be direct x 10 (if that is it's name) but most will have a few more visual abilities when you put it up against the Nvdia 7800.

Continued...now also keep in mind that these ATI cards (RV5XXX) are direct x 10 and not 9 like the current best card out. will this make a difference??? only time will tell. keep in mind the difference in direct x could be just like how shader 3.0 vrs 2.0b had really made no visual improvements.

Careful. Many sources confirmed that the R520 was a 24 if not 32 pipeline part. Now "inside" ATI sources say it's 16. Not to coinincede with Nvidia cancelling the Ultra version of the 7800. Coincedence? Not. Pure tacttic by ATI. When released. Expect to see "extreme 16 pipelines" Which translate to 24. The same way they marketed the X800 as "extreme 8 piplines" Remember that? Expect the same here folks.

It seems as though the stupid xbox360 has made ATi drop behind and lose the GPU race...for this year anyway, let's hope they don't do anything stupid like make more deals with the likes of micrap$oft in the future. Congrats to nVidia for winning for this year, they weren't conned into a bribery delay, I'm not an nVidia man, but for raising the bar just that little bit more for this year, contratulations.

The x800xt plays all games almost lag free with all graphics. Dont bother with this card or the 7800gt. Wait for something that really pushes the limits for game slike unreal 3 and ut2007.

i think either way, 16, 24, or 32 pipelines, this card is gonna kick ass. Sure, it could be very possible that this is wrong, but they also say in the artciel its faster than the 7800gtx, so who cares, if it outperforms the leading card atm, it doesnt matter whether it has 1, 16, 32 or 512, it wins!

If ati is going to have 16 pipelies, even at 600/1400, they can eat s**t. My 6800GT o/ced to 450/1200, so the 7800GTX must go to 525/1350. Nvidia>Ati again. If Ati's card will have 32 pipelines at 600/1400, then nvidia is an nvidiot.

I don't think it will have 16 pipelines do you know how many people will be pissed, the inquirer doesn't know jack s**t, they made flase statments in the past, besides why not have 32, they hav 48 in the r520 core, and besides the paper launches they had have had 32 pipelines they wouldn't redo the entire core in just few months if they couldn't get it runing then they would probaly tell mircosoft to screw itself and get the r500 for pc to the market. And to have the core running at 500mhz is no big deal people have had 850s run at 500mhz with 16 pipelines so does that mean this just a beaf up 850??

If u download the image files off a P2P program such as emule, and then get a virtual drive manager, u can load the image. So in theory, u dont need anything to copy pc games (hardware wise)

This is very similar to the sitituation that occurred with nVidia's Fx5800 and the Radeon 9800. The 9800 arrived earlier with more pipelines, although it had a slower clock. The Fx5800 arrived later with the same number of pipes as the previous generation but with a higher clock speed. Sounds very similar, doesn't it.

basically, a console is a very low class pc. It doesnt have all the ports like a pc motherboard does, no keyboard and mouse, no expandability, and no real OS. Once u get an OS on a console though, it makes it just as easy to pirate games as on a pc. Software can do just about anything

I recon weel have consoles plugged into our monitors in the future. I just damnwell hope they can invent a mouse for them. In the short term though i think there will be more console game ports with there s**t textures and slightly odd control methods (silent hill 4)
