"while a more newer version XGP, released or about to be in 2006"Well actually, the XGP is still vapourware. There is no real indication of when it will be released, and the specifications don't seem to be finalised yet anyway so nobody really knows how powerful the GPU will be.

cuz linux rocks :D have u not noticed how dev'ers try and port linux to every console thats capable of running it :S Linux allows for open source development on the console :D which means plenty of free crap

Smarty...because programs can be used in linux to do things like emulation of snes, nes, sega consoles aswell as mame video players music players etc etc etc.Oh and you dont need to mess about flashing bios etc to do it cos thats what the makers made it for. Man you really need to think about things before posting questions like that.

Why would gamers be interested in something running on Linux? There aren't any damn games for Linux.

I think its dual core CPU and no GPU. Why? Because seems the "news" is a f**kup, or "olds" in otherwords. I read up on the device and GP2X was released in march 2005 and was not able to emulate any decent 3d, while a more newer version XGP, released or about to be in 2006 has 3d acclerator capeable of rendering 1.5 Million tris per sec. So if id stack it up vs PSP... I'd go with XGP

I think the dual core means a CPU core and a graphics core, not a Dual Core CPU...Both cores runs at 200mhz and it produces some stunning emulations and movies...

This handheld has been out for a while now and i for 1 want one, £125 for gp2x.co.uk is not bad considering perefect Mega Drive emulation and high quality DivX playback amongst other things, and to Mad Max this handheld will not be widley avalible however there are likely to be a few small distributors in the USA as there are in the UK and Germany

is this a joke? the gpx2 was released 2 yrs ago (i think)... anyway.. not underestimate it: it run a LOT of emulators perfectly, while others like GBA's or PSX's are work-in-progress; plus can do a lot of things like psp... mp3, xvid, jpeg, text etc

looks are great indeed, i wonder about its power - dual core says nothing. I wouldnt mind paying extra 50$ for pen so can write stuff there.

Actually i thought the unit itself looks great, much nicer than my ds lite i bought a few days ago and there would be no fear of the hinge snapping .

While its nice to play games from twenty years ago, its also good to see some new games. There are plenty of handheld devices that can run emulators and this is nothing special. I will be amazed if this even gets released in america.
