Well, the problem with Blu-Ray is the disc structure. The format is static, while HD-DVD has signified a dynamic format. You know how everyone wished their DVD player could play DivX movies? HD-DVD players have some (not exactly THAT kind of change though) ability to evolve. Also, Blu-Ray is NOT a superior format, because the superior format is that which can office more storage per dollar, and HD-DVD is superior in that sense, hands down.

Conspiracy is the keyword. Why would MS try to sabotage something they invested MILLIONS into? This "conspiracy" is stupid. As for the format wars, big f-cking deal! The only thing Blu-ray offers is a larger disc format. Quality, and performance is really based upon your TV. What people should be crying about is goddamn EA games buying out Bioware! thats a more f--cking horrific event! And to add, the article says that they work on perfecting digital downloads. Maybe improve it by making files smaller, with great quality? Jeez dont you people read the articles?

Microsoft is creating an army of clones digitally implanted into HD-DVD discs...Their master plan is to ensure the widespread use of the HD-DVD format, then when the time is right; they will activate the clones... Every HD-DVD Disc will violenty explode in it's owner's HD player and suddenly morph into a 7ft clone of Bill Gates. Microsoft's World Domination will be assured... Resistance is futile

Seeing as that you are all idiots, I feel obligated to shed some light on this topic. In what shape or form is HD-DVD even remotely better than Blu-Ray? Blu-Ray is a superior technology - end of story - however slightly pricier. Do any research on this. Second, who seems more "evil?" Microsoft who is openly BUYING OUT corporate support or Blu-Ray who isn't even selling out to the porn industry? I'm sorry - but Michael Bay has a right to b***h. This is his insanely popular movie (I don't care if you hate it or not. Facts are facts.) It is sheer lunacy and bull for it to not be available in both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.

Digital downloads? Ok, fawk that. For one, last I checked 10megaBIT connections are ALL we have at max without paying an arm and a leg to get higher, until they can get those speeds up to at least T100speeds I for one will continue to support disks of any variety as long as their data transfer speeds are well above what ISP's can even handle. Granted if you could have a T1000 line to your house and transfer 70-90meg a second then suuuure I'd switch to digital downloads in a heartbeat, I'm sure everyone that has a lan knows it's a great way to stuff large files into a fileserver, or pull from it, it's fast as hell, and even when emulating a DVD it's still quite a bit faster than the recorded media types.

If there's no difference like you say then why not just support the larger-capacity blu-ray instead??I can't understand how some stupid and gullible consumers even think of considering supporting hd-dvd. What is it about hd-dvd that attracts you ??? Its s**ttier in all aspects to blu-ray except for its cost, and if you were really genuinely conscious about the cost of next-generation discs then perhaps you should stick to dvds. Anyone who says HD-dvds are just as good or better than blu-rays are getting paid to say that. END OF STORY

Haha funny thing is that he still accepted the check money... instead of donating the "dirty" money somewhere. Proves that it's all still about the money. I for one support both formats since there's no difference other then what movies get released on what format.

Dual format discs are the anwser. At somepoint the studios are going to want to make money on HD format releases... then the only option is a new format or dual format discs.M3gaGames Sucks

An HDMovie in the Hard Drive that is 25 to 40 gig in size will make the Hard Drive Panic, even downloading it would be a pain. Still all of this is a mess.

Well, digital downloads may replace for movies but people still need high capacity discs to backup s**t. Besides, not too many will want to wait for a 40GB high def movie to download, not to mention need to dump it somewhere afterwards. Having a disc is so much easier in this case. As for the guy below, T1 isn't much these days since it's a mere 1.5MBps both ways. You gonna need like a higher end FiOS in order to get your movie download in a reasonable amount of time.

Maybe about 2x more disc space? Which means higher res video or more content. Also I hate MS but I have to agree with them this time, digital downloads are likely the best option.
