Since this review was written, SWG has changed, totally! No longer a role playing game it is instead a shoot 'em up, on line with other players. In short its crap! Stay Away!

Weel today is 17/11/05. 2 days ago soe revamped there swg game for the third time in a year. Now it's screwed up beyond belief. About time this site had it reveiwed by a long term player instead of some psheudo reviwer that's given an account to play with for a week.

I have been playing SWG since Aug 2004. I have lived the SWG experience almost everyday since. Maybe an hour maybe 8 hours at a time. I have met and made some great online friends. On April 22, 2005 SOE rolled out what they called a Combat Upgrate. What they have done in most players opinion is mirrored the EQ2 experience. I have only played EQ2 for appox 1 hr. I bought it installed it and hated it. I went back to SWG. They have made a game that you could log into and play by yourself into a total group dependant game. As a veteran of SWG I have (in the past) been able to log on buff up and go kill practically anywhere in the galaxy I wanted to. I have been playing the CU for 3 days and a lvl 80 player I cannot leave an outpost alone. There is a petition at www.swgpetition.com that has over 12000 signatures against the CU. Has Sony listened to their loyal and faithful players? No, the game is not a fun game to play anymore. I am not posting this to list each and every problem with the CU, just my dissatifaction with it. I will cancel my account along with countless others that have. Whether this will affect SOE's bottom line or not I do not know. My recommendation is DO NOT BUY SWG, EQ2 or any other MMOG affiliated with Sony Online Entertainment.

This game is a waste of money for the average MMOGer. At an expected cost of $200 for 4 months play, you could get 4 months from any $50 game and the linear nature of char evolution leave it dry and mundane after 4 months. That is about how long it will take you to max out your initial proffesions goals. You can trafe in for others but only if you like throwing that 4 months work into a black hole, never to be seen again. Add to all the bugs and stuff that doesn't work you will see this after 4 months or so as well, also how it will cut into your success ratios from loots that are junk even in the 1% 'good loot' portion.

Star Wars Galaxies has great graphics and sound.Overall in the true fashion of MMO's it is a game that when you start playing you don't want to stop..sounds good right?Well thats just one side of the story...When i first started i thought it was a great game and jumped straight into the grind working on several professions but even then I started to notice something not quite right...I was bored, once the inital impression of the game wears off and you really start getting into it you'll notice that things are abit repetitive. Don't get me wrong the game gives you a wide variety of things to do but it just lacks depth in those options so no matter what path you choose it soon becomes an endless cycle of the same basic things. In short this game is good and at first addictive but if you really want to make your Star Wars Galaxies time as fun as possible then you might want to pick up another title and keep this one as a secondary if you can afford the fees that is.Then again if you pick this up as your primary game as i did then just be prepared for the excitement to wear down abit sooner than you'd think. Thats my take -syrino-

This game really sucks. Sony needs to get rid of their money grubbin attitude and concentrate games they make off of their OWN ideas. They should have let Luccas Arts make this game, but nooooooooo, Sony wanted more money, so they make a game that relates to star wars in a few ways, don't even test it very well, and try to sell it.

The games timeline is set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, not The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
