Silent hill is the scariest game I've ever played. It has the scariest, most volatile creatures I have ever seen and I'm actually sometimes afraid that one of those disgusting creatures is hiding under my bed, waiting for me to fall asleep so it can rip me apart. By the way, I agree with Hatefags. I'm not exactly as mad, but you have it messed up. Harry isn't a bad guy. He didn't kidnap Cheryl.

I really love all the Silent Hill games. The fourth one is now my favorite out of all. My favorite character is Walter Sullivan!! He's gonna be my idol if I ever become a sick murderer! lol.

Never played Manhunt before, but I have seen it a few times and didn't really think it was going to be a good one. Personally, I really love the Silent Hill series. The storyline is deeply interwoven with the series and characters. Also, the monsters never came from Hell. In a website that has the Silent Hill exciclepedia (however you spell it), I had read that the monsters were actually signs of James' unconcious mind. Ex. The 'Pyramid' head moster was actually the sign of James' guilt. Also, Silent Hill was believed to be a sacred place, but after the birth of the cult's religion in Silent Hill, it became a place where nightmares and shadowy secrets linger. Silent Hill calls to those (other words draw in) who seek punishment for their sins. I'm not really sure if its the truth, but what I had read had some pretty dark and very interesting things. You should check it out. I don't really care what others think about the games. Hey, who am I to say that the game is the best? Its just my own opinion, no one else in this world has to like it because I said that its good. Also, there were NO two sisters. It's the same f**kin' person. This person projects an alternate vision of herself... when the two meet Silent Hill starts crashing into the otherworld. Wow. That was a violent comment for something as petty as a game. Video games are pleasure. Meant to entertain as well as to teach kids creativity and hand-eye coorination. So Manhunt wasnt good. O well. it failed to entertain you, but the industry doesnt revolve around you ya know. Im not trying to dis you or anyting, but dont get so mad.Silent Hill has really created a town that seems so real. Strange creatures. Strange settings. And they even created their own religion, pushing its boundries from being just a game, to a very detailed story. More is explained the more games that come out. And the sirens and eclipses are geniously simple but is a tradmark of the game. Def. one of my fav. series of all time. final fantasy of horror

i always thought the silent hill series was the best survival horror series out there. in fact, i always thought it was one of the best video game series out there, period. it's always very deep, innovative, and fun to play. and this one seems to be really insane, if you've seen how action-oriented and intense it seems from the screenshots. and the song "room of angel" sounds cool, but my favorite is "your rain." i'm considering ordering an import of the soundtrack if i can. if not, i'll just wait until september and get the game. but i'll listen to the soundtrack first, then play the game, 'cause the music just sounds amazing. and i've never played manhunt, but i didn't think it looked very good, it just looked really violent. violence doesn't really make the game, it has to be fun, too.

i saw the trailer and luved it, i have never played a silent hill game but am big on the whole horror factor, i just hope the trailer didnt show all of the freaky looking entities, i mean what the f**k is that 2 headed baby faced thing looks and sounds spine chilling.. A very good game. Don't wish the world was more like this?The basic plot synopsis of Silent Hill is that there were two sisters. There was a woman trying to summon a god called Samuel. Silent Hill 1 discusses how Samuel came about into the world. Silent Hill 2 is based on the guys perceptions for his dead wife. Silent Hill 3 is the continuation from the story in Silent Hill 1, the girl is one of the first two sisters but it takes the scenario that one of the sisters was kidnapped by Harry the detective from Silent Hill 1 and taken and raised as his own daughter. If you would like more information then you can see the movie called "JACOB'S LADDER" which inspired the design and had a heavy influence in the design of the Silent Hill series. The reason Silent Hill is so psychotic that it is, is because the God Samuel was summoned in the original Silent Hill game. For f**k sakes kids get it f**king right.

What the world really needs is 10 more Silent Hill games. In what other game can you get great music, great story and this level of outright but classy scaryness? Resident Evil type games just tend to throw something hideously ugly at you (supposedly) when you least expect it. Manhunt was disturbing but only because it was so gruesome and tacky in its methods. Silent Hill uses a 100% stylish mixture of weirdness, atmosphere and sound to truly freak you out. True Class. I'm gonna buy it.

I would love to know the Origin of the monsters as well... I have a few theories but Im not sure.... I think that the monsters are part of a shadow version of our world and only people who are losing there sanity can perceive this world as it melts in with our own... some people being mad enouph to literaly bring them together and endanger lives... like that crazy sheila in Silent hill 3 that was mad....

am i the only one that thinks the last thing that the world needs is another silent hill game.
granted silent hill was decent and took me a decent amount of time to completely finish/unlock all things etc but raelly now
manhunt was far superior and is ahead of all the horror games now - even though it isnt straight horror it hs that graphic violence that many people are looking for in a game (a new experience deeper into the darker psyche)
more than likely i will buy this game cause i am a horror survival junkie since resident evil
but why
i would rather see a port of ps1's Ao thrill kill into a ps2 game or a xbox game

what makes it scary is the environment, the ambience and the atmosphere in the game and the suspense plays a big part in it. i agree the monsters are weird. like the picture shown, bet all those thingis on top of the guy is supposed to be the monsters. weird ones.
