With all the war that is raging, the terrorist threats everywhere, the advance of science and technolgy, the stronger Aids virus spreading... I firmly believe that this is the right moment to release a Deus Ex film. People have stopped staring at "The Matrix" for a while, but Deus Ex is all but the world and the moment we are living, and with the right production and the right cast this film could be huge.

Welcome to the world of movies, Deus Ex... I read a lot of the other posts and all I can say as to who the actors should be, is that I think it would be BEST if the people USED in the Game, were also taught how to portray and look a lot like the actors in the MOVIE. Sure it would be hard, but what can't hollywood do? I mean, honestly, we've seen some pretty cool stuff, and why the hell shouldn't DEUS EX be the Coolest movie around? I sure as hell better be good, because there's a lot resting on it, especially coming from this Self Appointed, BEST game EVER! I do have one question though. It is May 18th today, and I am wondering, WHEN THE HELL WILL THIS MOVIE BE FINISHED? I am looking forward to seeing it, but I sure hope it doesn't take another 5 years to make! Come on Greg Pruss! Write Faster!

OK deus ex 1 is the best. deus ex invisible war is crap. alex D shod have been Jc not knowing he was Jc or something. Paul shod be played by Johnny Depp, that would be GREAT! JC is a hard roll to play. so how will it be?

For the Deus Ex movie I think that Bob Page should be played by John de Lance (Q from Star Trek: TNG), Keanu reeves as Walton Simons and/or JC Denton, George Carlin or Gary Busey as Jock, and maybe Jeri Ryan as Anna Navarre (she was 7of9 on Star Trek: Voyager!) Those are my casting suggestions for Deus Ex

I haven't seen any here but there have been a lot of debunkers. (people who undermine the buzz) Qoute from one, "I don't know about you guys but I know Deus Ex will be be a Crappy B-Movie, as are all movies based on games. Tomb Raider was the exception and it failed at the box office."Okay I'd like to debunk the debunkers. Being realistic we can expect at most 3 or 4 big name stars. That's a ton. But the movie will certainly not be a "crappy B-movie." The game is compared to Tomb Raider. Number One, Tomb Raider's plot was not movieworthy in the least while Deus Ex has one of the best plots in videogames if not the best. Secondly, Tomb Raider hasn't won any awards, while Deus Ex was Game of the Year by over 50 top magazines and websites. Thirdly, DX has a following more than tenfold of that of Tomb Raider. Besides which Deus Ex is a very movie-able game. And if the game is flashy enough in the previews it could easily be a box office smash hit. And thats not counting the possible edition of having a superstar like Ben Afflek or Tom Cruise play JC and a great villain actor like John Travolta as Walton Simons. Then they find the most famous russian actress in the world to fit the part of Anne Navarre, have Arnold be Gunther (Shaky on this one afterall he's moved on from Terminator to Governator) and then the rest of the cast, including Bob Page who could be a wide range of actors, will be played by no-names. That's my relatively optimistic yet still realistic prediction. I think there is a 100% chance it won't be a B-Movie and a 70% of being a smash hit. Getting the types of high budget actors I predicted, 20% because I'm being realistic.

Continued from below!!Lucius DeBeers [Origional Head of Illuminati] : (Anthony Hopkins) Morgan Everett [Head of Illuminati] : ??????? JoJo Fine : Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) Juan Lebedev [Leader of NSF] : Alan Rickman / Jeremy Irons (Die Hard 1/3) NSF Leader : ???????? Stanton Dowd [An Illuminati with Grey Death] : Richard Attenborough (Jurassic Park) Gilbert Renton : ???????? Sandra Renton : Neve Campell (Scream) I really hope this film goes ahead. Seriously doubt they would even concider my cast list tho, lol. Let me know wot u think of it anyway. I agree with others, this is something that can easily be done wrong. But careful planning will be done right. I agree with Daedalus on the ending, I recon the Illuminati ending would be a good idea, and it would leave it open for a sequel. However, they would probably chose Tracer Tongs ending. ‘The unplanned organism is a question asked by nature and answered by death. You are a different kind of question, with a different kind of answer.’ Quote from Deus Ex, which character? Cant wait 4 Deus Ex 2 JJJ

I think the film wqill be a success because it has such a good story, and has every chance in the world to make a great movie. This would have to be done with an excellent casting, directing, character development and story telling. A few great films which succeed in this are Fight Club, Terminator, Saving Private Ryan, Casino, Matrix and Memento. Deus Ex : The Movie (which hopfully will not be called that) should definatly not be a quick 1hr 30min film. This would have to span atleast 2hr 30. To get any where near enough stuff in to do it justice. Probably even more! If not the results could prove fatal. I think actors/actresses that play a variety of roles and that manage to succeed should be selected to play the roles. Some of my cast resemble some of the features of the characters in the game, also I believe that they would be able to do the roles extremely well. Sorry there are a few blanks! My ideal cast list: JC Denton : Guy Pierce (Memento) Paul Denton : ??????? Alex Jacobson : ??????? Anna Nevarre : Carrie Anne Moss (Matrix) Gunther Herrman : Anorld Schwarzenegger (Terminator) Jaime Reyes : ??????? Jock : ???????? Joseph Manderly [Chief of UNATCO]: Harvey Kietel (Mean Streets - Reservoir Dogs) Harley Filben : Bruce Willis (Sixth Sence) Sam Carter : Michael Ironside (Total Recall) Walton Simons [Head of Fema] : Michael Rooker (Cliffhanger - Henry) Joe Greene : Bill Paxton (True Lies) Chad [Leader of Silhouette] : Ridley Smith Nicolette Duclare [A Silhouette Partner] : Brittany Murphy (8 Mile) Bob Page : ??????? El Ray : Stephen Dorff (Blade) Tracer Tong : ???????? Gordan Quick [Leader of Luminous Path] : Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy) Maggie Chow : ???????? Max Chen [Leader of Red Arrow] : ???????? Smuggler : Samuel L. Jackson (Unbreakable – Pulp Fiction) Ford Schick : ???????? Gary Savage [Universal Constructor Scientist] : ???????? Tiffany Savage [Savages Daughter, duh] : Scarlett Johansson (Eight Legged Freaks) Lucius DeBe

keifer sutherland as JC.. the idea behind the movie is great though, very much like the game, is that is is a large story, and multi-role one.. so it doesnt always ahve to be about JC.. the other part is, the woman who produced spiderman is producing it.. which means a big bag of money, though i hated toby mcguire, spiderman was a good movie..

I loved the game, but I think that a movie of it would be almost impossible to do, because what the game was was up to the gamer. The movie would be the same every time you saw it, whereas the game is NEVER the same twice. The DVD edition would be easier to do, because they could but multiple endings on it. Still, when the movie comes out, I feel I have to go see it anyway.

ja know... i adore the game. i had high expectations when i bought it, but from the moment i installed it i had a good feeling. such a rich plot with subtle twists and turns, causing a huge turmoil of intrigue and suspense in every direction. just the fact that i am given the ability to CHOOSE how i want to handle situations, by stealth or force, or not at all at times, or however ELSE i see fit - that sells the game right there. then they factor in MULTIPLE ENDINGS depending on your actions and words. and the Illuminati...maybe a handful of you actually know of it, and those that do probably regard it as fanciful thouhgt, or a conspiracy theorists delusion. but the fact remains that there WAS a Bavarian Illuminati, founded by Adam Weishaupt, as mentioned in the game... powerful men have dreams, and some are powerful enough to fulfill them - in time... the strings on the puppet can always be traced back to the hand of the puppetmaster... ...lest the hand be a puppet itself. Well, I've been thinking some about that ending thing, and I figure that they're going to stuff the movie with special effects, just like all those other movies, and that if they need to do so, it is most likely that they choose the Tracer Tong ending (blowing it all to pieces). I, for myself, wouldn't mind the illuminati ending. That would also open the door to a sequel, in case the movie is a success. I just hope that they don't make a Deus Ex 2 movie. It's bad enough that they make one out of Deus Ex, since you can't include even near all the details held within the game, and that what makes the game so extremely wonderful. I, for one, loved to read the "Jacob's Shadow" books. I thought they were good. Probably missed a few though. Perhaps someone has all of them. Never played Deus Ex online. Didn't need to. Just hearing the introduction music was worth the 40$ I payed for the game. The music is also wonderful. I listen to it in school when I write boring assignments. At least sometimes. I've got to see the movie though, just to see what happens. Either it's a success or it's a flop. Just the same odds as with the Lord of the Rings, although that is somewhat more widely spread. As you may see, I'm a big fan of this post, mostly because I can tell you what I think, and you can't do nothing about it. And I don't care what you comment to me either. So don't bother trying, because it's just a waste of time. Ahh, god I love Deus Ex. Heres an old saying to think about while I try to think about what to write next: Only a fool would call himself wise, and only the wise knows that he is a fool. But who is the real fool? The fool or his follower?

Well, merging with Helios is probably not so good in the movie, but i did so in the game. In the movie, taking all of it back to the dark age (Tracer Tong's ending) is probably the best. Or perhaps the illuminati... Hmmmmm... I'll just have to ponder this for a while. Check back with you later!

Hey! All you ppl who say that this game is bad, get lost! You dont know anything about it! Deus Ex is the best game through all of times! The story is the deepest ive ever encountered, and believe me, ive played most games. And i'd say that the possibilities in Deus Ex are huge!Probably even larger than Andrew Cheng's ego, but i cant know for sure. But I don't know about making it into a movie. Perhaps they should write a book about it instead =). Mr Threepwood has a point there though. How would they make the ending? Which of the 4 possible will they choose? (Well, most probably not the fourth; For all you that don't know it, it is a large disco-dance party). I think that merging with Helios is the best. Daedalus and Deus Ex RULEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The game is one of the best, similar to Thief in respects that it created a unique atmosphere and original gameplay.Every single movie that has been based on a game so far has failed in every major way. So why should this be any different? All they do is take a perfectly good story and cut out bits of it + add CGI and they have a movie. If it comes out there's no way i'm gonna support the shitty directors/story writers/producers who don't have any imagination at all by spending $10 or whatever on the movie ticket... Movies like this deserve to be pirated...

Chippas you have to look obviously didnt read the text messages of all the people that survived and are scattered throughout the game. The story is a air prison crashes on a distant world populated by aliens. The people stuck on the planet first try to survive but are forced to flee from their ship and take refuge with a slave alien race. This alien race believes that one of the prisoners is their savior that will one day free them from the skaarj's control. The survivors are soon captured and forced to either fight the goliath beast or be tortured to death. At the same time that the player defeats the goliath a prison break occurrs that frees the survivors. They then head into the mountains with the nali for safety. There is a lot more to the story but you have to keep ur eyes open and read all the text messages to understand the story otherwise its as you put it, a guy running around shooting skaarj.

Im curious as to why hollywood hasnt looked at some of the other games out there that would possibly be good movies. Sure duke nukem and doom failed as possible movie titles but why not quake series or even unreal. As far as the casting of denton goes i bet it will likely be cage or maybe tom cruise though likely they will pick a third rate actor is the spend the bulk of their budgets on special effects like in flops like tomb raider and the recent insepid movie that i dont need to mention but im sure you all know the disaster i speak of?
