Thanks Rockstar for at least bringing this fabby game out on our still popular platform (PC), - but I would honestly prefer no-DRM (Such as Ubisoft's Prince of Persia).
I have run into a load of dodgy issues since installing Securom, Starforce, and other rootkit type protection, and I don't think its the way forward at all!

No more drunk cam.
Its cracked 100%

Rockstar:
Take ur 200k dollar security and shav* it in ur *ss

Anonymous

at 15:37 4/12/2008

well though their protection will get cracked so it has but still are having fair amount of difficulties such as drunken cam will make your head spin,
then the sudden and constant car acceleration, various crash to desktops i mean WOW you really did it this time Rockstar

I wonder who makes better sales, Fallout 3 with its limited protection, or GTA IV with securom.
I think a simple protection and providing additional content with updates is the way to go.
Like in the Game Neverwinter Nights. You can crack it for sure, but you will hardly be able to play player based modules with it, because they often require updated game versions.

(Dear God let me have read the CAPTCHA properly, else all i wrote was in vain)

Any kind of copy protection doesn't help at all. It'll get cracked no matter what. I reckon they should've just saved their time and money and released it without copy protection.

1. nothing changes
2. not even rockstar
3. who gives a s**t
4. learn to fix it

Anonymous

Drm? Thats like saying "please pirate my game". Seriously, brute force and restrictions won't solve this problem, creative thinking is the way to go, but oh the gaming industry has given up on creative thinkers about a decade ago right? Cause milking is better.

Anonymous

at 17:35 1/12/2008

Ya too bad Spore really wasn't that good. I had high hopes for it too. Looks like Will Wright should stick to The Sims and Sim City.

Anonymous

at 14:20 1/12/2008

DRM objective is the second hand market. They want to kill it. A producer actually recognized it.

Anonymous

at 13:59 1/12/2008

meh look like rockstars is now on my blacklist and on my dont care if i hack list :P...seriously this doesnt stop anything and the trouble you get with secuROM is just horrible and seriously easy to see....why put it on any game I DONT FREAKING KNOW....it doesnt stop pirating at all...im betting it help it alots more

Spore was one of the most pirated game ever...soo yeah not really working and just destroy PC gaming even more....how about they make GOOD GAME instead of putting stupid copy protection....the only people that this will stop would be stopped by a cd key anyway if they arent smart enought to know how to open a crack

nin

at 13:46 1/12/2008

to anon 12:49 ... because the game has DRM when you steal it in the store! :D ... i make an aweful lot of money and i buy games all of the time, but i made the mistake buying a securom protected one ... never again.

you can try to be "reasonable" but saying pplz like me are doing the wrong thing is just wrong. imagine buying a car you would have to install a camera inside your bedroom just to make it work ... if you don't fight back the damn industry will rape you more and more. instead of investing millions into drm just sell the games at half their prizes ... et voila no more problems

Anonymous

at 12:49 1/12/2008

Idiots, the reason they put this kind of protection system is becuse their game would be downloaded back to stoneage if not.
Now it once again will be downloaded back to stoneage, it will just take a little longer.

As mentioned before, stop trying to justify yourself when you are stealing games.
This is illegal, it is a crime, why not just go and steal the game from a store?

Nowhere Man

at 12:46 1/12/2008

Im gonna b honest, unlike the majority of u. Im gonna pirate this game cos id rather spend the £30 on weed. i will buy the game if its good cos i will wanna play online. i dont giv a sht about DRM cos i alredy hav 102 processes running in the background, what difference is 1 more gonna make?

Already Crakced

at 12:3 1/12/2008

Game was released from sweden (leaked), and today was cr*cked. Proof on torrent sites.

Nice try RockStar

Anonymous

at 10:52 1/12/2008

This is bulls**t. I refuse to buy any offline game that requires online activation.

I love buying games, I have enough money to buy new games, but every single pc game I've wanted to buy recently I pirated. That's hundreds of dollars down the s**tter for a DRM scheme that probably cost a hell of a lot to implement. Good game, DRMStar.

Anonymous

at 6:7 1/12/2008

I pirate, yes, but thats because here games cost $100, at a $100 a game i dont want to pay for the next piece of trash off the block.

With the number of games out there its hard to pick the one that actuly is great.

I Buy the games i have torrented and found great. I believe in actuly paying if they are good.

But this brings me back to Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. I have it, bought it ages ago, it has secure rom and guess what, i cannot play it anymore as the version with it wont let it install on vista. Also secure rom is very intrusive and hard to uninstall. This is why i will nolonger be buying it.

Anonymous

at 23:25 30/11/2008

irony is you cant really pirate what is not there can you? 5 years ago pirate groups couldnt bother! Titles werent available. Now they have a CRUSADE against DRM, a challenge, they see they are doing good and i doubt chinese gonna pay 50USD for any game, or russia, or ex soviet countries.

Anonymous

at 23:17 30/11/2008

alright so here is me opening my start menu-> program files. See about 100 programs, about 30 games. Wonder to myself? AHA! what if each one of them has a f**king DRM (spyware) in it? mmm. What those idiots do not get is that the very same people who pirated, NOTHING changed for them NOTHING! Still get a torrent, download, install, crack. Its the customers who are made to think twice

Anonymous

at 22:6 30/11/2008

Not cheap, just think of it as being able to free up funds for other things...

Anonymous

at 21:51 30/11/2008

people justifying why they pirate games with their silly excuses, why not just fess up you are just cheap bastards

Wow and you wonder y pc gaming is in decline. No wonder publishers are focusing towards consoles. This kind of attitude is getting old.

Don't be crying when there is no new pc games left except wow.

ME

at 20:50 30/11/2008

anyone that uses the word 'integrity' when talking of themsleves, is full of s**t, I've learned.

???

at 17:41 30/11/2008

Having copy protection allows us to protect the integrity of our titles and future investments

Yes since it worked so well with spore and every other game cant wait to download this err i mean play it :)

Anonymous

at 12:27 30/11/2008

i hope that whoever owns megagames will go bankrupt and regret he ever implemented that horrid captcha =)

Anonymous

at 12:14 30/11/2008

lol will they ever learn? time to pirate this b***h

Zaki

at 11:15 30/11/2008

An old saying, what has been made, can be unmade. This game will be cracked just like all the other games. Dun worry guys.

Anonymous

at 9:38 30/11/2008

This is actually great news, this Rockstar's move will increase peers for gtaIV torrents by the thousands all over the world.

Anonymous

at 9:33 30/11/2008

Securom = spyware, i dont want that crap slowing my windowz down even more than it already is.

Oh well, Another game i wont buy.
And since Spore was cracked, this should be easier and faster to crack.

MG421982

at 8:53 30/11/2008

Haven't bought a game in years (by the time these protections were in infant stage), so I have no idea how this (SecuRom) stuff works against the PC owner. GTA IV is a must (at least for me) and already preordered it, so I just hope this s*$#& won't f*D(* up my PC, otherwise I might take a break for the rest of my life from buying any game!!!!

BlackNiggar

at 8:30 30/11/2008

f**k! i will have to wait days for the crack! stupid white ppl and theis protections! f**k you all!

Anonymous

at 8:25 30/11/2008

so if you pay 50 USD you get securom and annoyance... OR if you pirate then you get it free and without annoyance. TOUGH choice! me thinks

Anonymous

at 8:12 30/11/2008

I'm not going rationalize why I'm not buying GTA IV with lame excuses such as secuROM and etc, I'm simply going to pirate it because I don't want to spend money.

It's that simple. I save 50 bucks. I win.

Anonymous

at 8:10 30/11/2008

just watch the torrent sites for this title seeds and leechers will go through the roof hahaha

Anonymous

at 8:8 30/11/2008

why do they even bother with these protections hahaha they always get cracked eventually haa i mean cmon i played Left 4 Dead pirated online via steam hahaa Antipiracy `s a joke :D

David

at 5:56 30/11/2008

"Ahh, too bad. Piraters are going to have to get a job now like the rest of society and actually pay for things they want."

Idiot

Anonymous

Everybody needs to chill.
There's no install limits, you won't even notice a fukin thing.

dips**t

at 5:13 30/11/2008

actually there was no crack 4 this game...epic fail

Anonymous

at 5:5 30/11/2008

I though they were going to learn of EA. This games is one of the few I would actually buy, but if it had some weak cd check protection or none at all.

I don't pay for the lesser version if I can download one much better for free.

Fuck you Rockstar.

Anonymous

at 2:45 30/11/2008

"Just like Spore used to, a large fan base is eagerly waiting for the PC release of GTA: IV, and just like with spore, those fans will have to install SecuROM"

And just like Spore, no one will buy it.

Plus anyway, it's GTA for PC, no one buys GTA for PC!

Anonymous

at 2:40 30/11/2008

If it was just a drive check..i'd put up with it.
I'm not settling with the online activation.

GIBMECODEZ

at 2:14 30/11/2008

PIRACY HAS THE BALL! HE HAS THE WIN!
PIRACY SHOOTS! GOOOOOOOOOAL!
PIRACY SCORES! AND PIRACY WINS AGAIN!

Anonymous

at 1:29 30/11/2008

sorry rockstar but i don't want a piece of software that doesn't uninstall from my pc when I want. Its MY PC and MY HDD, and if I buy the game MY GAME.
Every secuROM title in my book equals download pirate version.

shait

at 1:27 30/11/2008

this is the most stupid move they could make ... i bought an aweful lot of games ... but i will NOT buy one with these s**tty copy protections that install themselves and shait ... forget it!
i'm pirating this one. it's just more user friendly that way.

Crap

at 23:39 29/11/2008

Anonymous

at 17:37 29/11/2008

NOW I wanna see the anti-DRM factions out there boycott THIS game!

Anonymous

at 16:26 29/11/2008

secure rom may be the most effective but its still not impossible to crack, so pirates really don't have to worry, and luckily this doesnt soundsl ike this that harsh of drm

Anonymous

at 15:7 29/11/2008

Ahh, too bad. Piraters are going to have to get a job now like the rest of society and actually pay for things they want.
