ok here is the scoop with the Army playing thease games someof them might get crazy ideas and decide to use a bazooka in real life and try to Rocket jump, this being possible in the game but not in real life also ppl will say how much hp they have on the battle field ex 1 leg ripped off is 65% hp 2 legs gone 32%hp and a handicap lol this is fake

and a MOD can only do what...the engine limits it too...Day of Defeat...C'mon! they rounds for M1 Garand can be fired at a slower rate and big recoil, SO WHAT they change the specs around.....but still makes it like Half Life.
Realism doesn't have to be made over the top. I just want the formula= recoil,reload(of course),real damage, not those dumb Global Operations Medics. ETC

Dude of course they will release this mod and noone cares if the whole world will play it. If you check in the new PC gamer with the GTA 3 on the cover, you will find an article about a Military game that the US military uses to train soldiers. This game is also being released. AND GET THIS: ITS FREE.

Ok, I know I made this mistake earlier, but I see everyone complaining that this mod won't help at all with combat effectiveness - the Desc. says that it's being designed for practicing tactics, not actual accuracy or a soldier's operation in combat. Also, some of you better stop asking about getting this mod because you are going to get flamed - of course they aren't going to let you download this! It's the British Army, for God's sake! Isn't that a bit like asking for a copy of Microsoft's business plan? IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

Ok... First, I think that training in front of the computer is quite stupid. It's still quite far from the real thing.
Second, why the hell did they take Half Life? Why not something like Operation Flashpoint instead. That one really has the "army feel" in it. I'm not sure how easy it is to mod though, so maybe that's why they take H/L, because of easy modding.
And third, do you really think that if the US army is going to post a free wargame on the internet on public servers, that it will only be available to the us? Don't think so. A week after it's been released, even the Afghans will be playing it. And all of Europe. And Russia. The whole world...

I expect the average geek not going last very long in a REAL situation, where they can't rely on BS head shots that are possible with keyboard and mouse.and unless the release a game called Columbine where you gun down unarmed people, you probably don't need to worry about your games being banned for this reason.

Two comments:1. It is a millitary simulation, it doesn't have to look real, it just has to act real. 2. They are only using it for tactical training; it doesn't need to teach marksmanship.

and the half-life engine is a great engine, you can basicaly make anything you want in it, and you can make it as real as you want it to be, look at day of defeat, look how much things are modified and how realistic it is combared to all those other wanabe WW2 games. you guys should check the facts! and kevin, that running idea is phucking lame, running, youve got to be kidding, running, he, where the phuck is your head!

i hope all you lamerz know that the US army is doing the same goddamn thing, and yes they will be releaseing it free to the public over the net, availible to download off of most of those game file sites. And guess what you guys might this this game thing is dumb, but beleve it or not since games with war and violence, and "realism": people from all over the world are joining the army. and i beleve that i person that plays alot a videogames, whould definatly without a doubt perform much better than any other average soldier.

I think this is a great idea...except, of course, for the idea of actually BEING there. They should make something like the Time Crisis guns (you know, for PS) only bigger and heavier. Maybe borrow one of those old NES floor mats to make 'em run a bit (j/k). Oh, and two more things: sure, Half Life alone is pretty unrealistic but look what those good folks did with CS. Also, if this mod were to be released to the public, I'd have to say it won't be for quite some time, and even then, it probably wouldn't be the real thing (they'd take some stuff out).
