Piracy has been around for decades, tape players, vcr's etc. Not a single person can say they have never 'pirated' something. Recording your fave tv prog and watching again is a form of piracy, read the shit at the begining of a video and even lending to others is 'prohibated'.
All bullshit, as they say, where theres a will theres a way. Piracy will be around forever whether people get sued or not. Just download Peer Guardian (cant remember link) if your using Kazaa, stops certain IP's (like RIAA) from connecting to your comp so reduces chance of them sueing you! (note I said reduces, not stops!)

I think it's obvious that the RIAA is finally getting what they have doled out. Not even the high power of the government can go unpunished if it used incorrectly and excessively. This is most defenitely one of those situations and one of those peons they use for their political bettering has finally bitten back. I am very proud that one of these file sharing companies has stood up in the crowd of fearful others. (Napster just to name one) The RIAA needs to suffer a blow that will show them and other extremist, official orginazations that they need to think through their decisions before administering them. Ignorant companies and corporations forming a sort of conglomerate to control prices for consumers are f**king money mongering pricks. The cost of living and the cost of everything that we consume has gone up in the last decade, these bloody corporations don't f**king care for anyone except themselves just to make a turn over profit. The current legislation as we all know for the copyright act and of course the piracy act prohibits consumers from doing the unjust, since consequences of jail terms and fines persist. I think manufacturers who create products such as CD or DVD recorders should suffer hefty fines because they're products are causing the piracy to increase; because at the end of the day, they're making money regardless. Although, its like VHS recorders, the same story applies; except it could phase out... who knows. Us Aussies have the worst f**king ISPs and telecommunication technology in the world, we are third rate in every way; so its not that our ISPs and telec. groups don't care, its because we always have other problems within the industry to worry about. Sueing a 12 year old for downloading pirated data is unforgiveable, a 12 year old who does not understand the full extent of the law based on the overwhelming confusion of the area of piracy should not continue. RIAA is using the 12 year old as a propaganda statement to tell us, "in the event of downloading pirated data off the net, this is what could happen?". Shame Shame Shame....

Atleast in Sweden the arists gets severall millions even if someone is downloading the song. There is an internet TAX like 1-5% which goes directly to record companies. But then they are making programs such as kazaa illegal... That means no one want's to use the intenet as often as today... And they lose money that way... This is confusing... I have stopped using kazaa... but i think sueing RIAA was a smart way...Hey that is hacking RIAA you should be a shame. Sueing a twelve year old then something is wrong...

If any of u peeps read the End User Agreement of Kazaa after u dl it, it states that anyone has right to access ure comps files. So by dling Kazaa ure allowing this to happen. Ok, I don't think programs like Kazaa are bad.1.) You see the video or hear the song. You like it.
2.) You download the song on Kazaa. You like the song even more.
3.) You want more songs by that artist. You download more songs.
4.) [two options] You download CDs by the artist, or you buy the CD.
5.) They are coming to town. You want to go to the concert. You buy tickets.
6.) Groupies vote for the video on TRL and other request shows. People see/hear the song, and like it. The cycle continues.
Is it just me, or shouldn't the music industry be THANKING people who share music on the internet? Oh, God forbid they make 990 million instead of 1 billion a year. F*ck that.
