u ALL r a bunch of f**k ups who have missed the point. The point was the study used better VR(virtual reality) headsets! than anyone can get there hands on currently! so the results are almost certainly invaluable to the life we go to inside the future holodeck ('3d chat' VRML web surfing). All is going to be well and unlike 'The Matrix' we will not die if someone frags us ;o)

if you are scared of spiders, and you see spiders in a virtual world, you get scared.if you are a pissed off moron murdering angry psycho, and you shoot people in a virtual world, then you can choose to shoot people in the real world. murdering people is by choice. being scared of spiders is not by choice. this renders "well if it works for phobia's, that means video games make murderers also!" totally wrong. don't look for a scapegoat. don't express your opinion or make a situation out of your ignorance and malexperience of video games. i've played violent video games for 12 years. i've never shot anyone, or came even close to it. you know why? because my parents aren't f**k ups, they raised me right. Uh, if its realistic enough and it helps people deal with REAL fears, what the hell is the problem? thats great, Kudo's to the therapist's that use PC games to help people. You guys are so friggin ready to pounce on anyone relating video games to real life, constantly thinking itll be a negative point, in the meantime your failing to see the good in this article, I'm very happy to read about PC Games being used to treat therapy's instead of about some doped up or "Disturbed" prick running out guns blazing then saying, "Well it must've been GTA:Vice City", "I didn't mean to hurt anyone"....now thats b.s. This is cool.

hello, mouse, keyboard, monitor = not realistic. remember kids when u find that ur sitting on ur ass and using the devices mentioned above, your playing a game.thats all i gotta say. i can't see how anyone can insist that they can't tell the different between reality and fiction. thats a bullshit claim. again, mouse + keyboard + monitor = not real and never can be real. so no matter how realistic the latest game looks, if your aware of your surroundings and have a brain(used for logic and thinking, can do math also), reasoning will tell u that its a game and any action u do in the game, should be taken when respect to its context(fake, not real, it is a game). the latest games still look fake anyways, not that the graphics are bad. i think they look great, but they don't look realistic enough to make me think, i'm looking through a window from my house. just wait till we get holodecks(no weak minds allowed, hands a yoyo to those who don't meet requirements).

We play video games that infulence us have a bad day at work come home plop and play vice city does this mean im going to steal cars or shoot people in real life i think not i play games to relax heh give someone else a bad day in a video game in a sence. As for vilient games heh i have been playing games day one vilent to operation wolf for nintendo hell ya it was fun but it is not going to make me kill people i played vilent videos games because they were more fun heh look at me now im an assissent manger at comp usa. So put this to a point its not so much games that infulence people it gives them ideas of course. But it is mostly related on family issues. Ie parents not being there for there kids divorces being picked on at school. My point im saying games hep release all that stress to a point. But there are so many different veiws people will always blame games yawn what else is new. Sorry for the run on and the messy ness 9 hour work day heh take it easy guys/ladies and let the good times roll.

People are responsible for their own actions. A man who takes a gun and kills several people is just as guilty of murder as a kid who takes a gun and kills several of his schoolmates. Irresponsible individuals try to peg the problem on secondary issues i.e. video games, sociological issues within the school, and action movies. Consider for a moment that maybe it is less the media's fault as it is the moral integrity of the individual perpetrating those actions. If rationalized, a person can commit any crime with a clear conscious. When cornered, a child will blame others for their personal actions. It is up to us parents to work with our children so they may grow to make intelligent decisions. Obviously, taking a gun to school is not an intelligent decision. They must learn to distinguish reality from fiction and vise versa. Only those responsible FOR the children may do this. In closing, it is the parent’s responsibility to monitor and control the level of violence in a child’s life. It is also the parent’s responsibility to observe their child’s behavior and look for warning flags of potentially dangerous actions. Throughout the time a child lives with the parent, they are a dependent and must be cared for in this manner. Regardless of their actions, children and adults are responsible for their actions and must accept responsibility. Failing this, our society will be thrust downward; ever-decaying to become a force with no morals, not integrity, and no hope for a better future. - Jarax PS- Religion isn’t the answer. More often then not, religion leads to segregation within our ranks. “Our ranks” being those of us human. No religion is right. Not even one moral code is right. It’s too subjective. But, I don’t have the answers just one of many opinions. It will be the younger generation of today who will make or break this world…if G.W. doesn’t do it first.

I don't seriously believe computer games affect me in any way. I have no desire to kill nor hurt anyone. I don't like the sight of blood in real life and I don't like seeing really cruel things happen in life. The reason complete f**kheads go around killing people are because the americans put guns in kiddies lunchboxes and expect them to act like good upstanding citizens. Of course the completely insane wankers go get the guns then kill loads of people and say computer games made me do it. Those people should be blown away. Also if a game is an 18 then a kid who blames his actions on it shouldn't even have f**king access to it anyway. So if anyone seriously thinks that computer games cause anyone to do anything go f**k yourself you are a waste of human life.

I think they can games are becoming more and more realistic and so I dont think kinds under 14 should be playing GTA Vice City or anything like that. I have been playing games for a long time now and when I was small they did influence me to do some bad things bad never anything serious like shooting someone.

Games don't kill people. People kill people. Though some games can disturb (but not twist your mind!), it's you that makes terrible things, only if you want. No Big Brother build games to create potential killers or to generate slaughters and massacres. There' s simply no need...

People are f**king stupid ! Who the f**k can blame their actions on a VIDEO GAME. Thats exactly what it is, a GAME! Games are meant to detach the user from reality, their meant to be used to get away from your everyday actions, if you cant understand that then you shouldnt play games!Just because you easily killed someone in a game doesnt mean its going to be the same way in real life. You pull out a gun and everyone around you will see it, people will run and scream which will most likely atract the attention of a trigger happy cop and YOU WILL GET YOUR HEAD BLOWN OFF !!! If video games warp your mind, then i would of went insane along time ago. I love playing games full of blood & gore and I love senseless violence. But that doesn't mean im going to buy a gun and walk down the street blowing peoples heads off just for a laugh (thats why i play SOF2) Its Common Sence to know the difference between fiction and reality, if you cant tell then DIE. BTW: Americans are f**kING STUPID YOU LET A f**kING TERRORIST WITH A f**kING KNIFE AND/OR A RAZOR TAKE OVER A PLANE AND CRASH IT INTO A f**kING BUILDING !!! IF I WAS ON ONE OF THOSE PLANES I WOULD OF KILLED EVERY LAST f**kING TERRORIST ON BOARD, JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A KNIFE DOESNT MEAN THEY CAN KILL YOU !!! Besides i'd rather die in battle then die sitting on my ass.

Im 19 years old... been playing pc games since Doom 1. The way I've been "affected" by games is that I dont feel sick and disgusted when I see blood.. like in movies and so. When ppl cry when the boat sinks in Titanic I Laughed.. maybe cause the movie sucked I dont know ;) Definetly games affect ppl... but blaming games for killing ppl in real life is lame..

Sobbsy, I agree with you in a way, it makes logical sense. However, the human (and the most sensible) reaction to a gun is to run. In the instances where poeple have stood up to gun weilding maniacs, games probably had nothing to do with it. Adrenaline would have caused the person to make the split second decision. I lik eyou idea but it just wouldn't work in real life, or, if it did, it would be a bad thing.

If you were to kill someone and blame a game for your actions its more then obvious that you were mentally unstable in the first place and cant tell the difference between real life and fantasy. or maybe its just because u americans are f**kin assholes to each other and will jump at anything to help you come to terms with your own f**ked up brain.

It may sound strange, but i na a way i think it's a good thing to be desensitised, imagine if we were all pac man pansies, what if one day, while at a fancy party in California or something ( bear with me) when suddenly a terrorist faction overtakes the place, we would all crawl into the corner, and hope it all goes away. But then again there are those of us that have been desensitised, who will immedeately proceed to jump te nearest guard and steal his rifle, hell, we may die, but thats the price we pay for trying to save someone. It may sound stupid but its a real fact, the ability to not feel frightened by a terrorist or a gun is a commemrable quality. what about the guy on that plane on september 11th? i bet he was brought up on games, Kudos to u desensitised gamers/people! (dont think im crazy, it's just it seems totally reasonable to me)
