I agree with you that posting here consumes colossal amounts of energy which could be put elsewhere, but going straight to the RIAA with this rhetoric is an even bigger waste of energy. The fact that they're suing children and grandparents shows just how firmly set they are in their ways. It's become an increasing trend (at least IMO) that more and more people are forgetting about the idea of consumer sovereignty - that WE (the consumers) have the true power. The RIAA can't exist without our money, and they'll only exist as long as we LET them. Which is why I've posted here. If I can educate fools such as BUY MUSIC DAMIT and show them the error of their ways (i.e. supporting corrupt corporate music labels and their exploitative business model) then we're one step closer towards a better deal for us.

oh and i forgot to mention this. Buh, dont give up man keep trying to shut that f**ker up man!!! i mean i dont drink i dont do drugs, and we not the richest in the world. hell i live in East L.A. and you walk down the street you see ppl living under overpasses in old parking lots and industrial complexes. EVERTHING YOUVE BEEN TOLD IS A LIE. the story of america and its invincible economy is a lie. i myself dont live any "american dream" even though i have all ill ever need. when my parents came here decades ago they had dreams, and to them they may have come true, but they didnt realize something, they were at the bottom their and they are not much further up here. music is a gift, a talent, and exploiting that for profit is what big record labels and recording industries do. and its not just the money its the availibilty and the tracks and stuff too, all of it is left out. think man!

i am reminded of this great old saying "arguing over the internet is like playing in the special olympics, even if you win you still a retard..." and thats what this is. to that homo BUY MUSIC DAMNIT you can lick my ass, and to the rest of you, whats the point of posting stuff eh? what is the RIAA gonna come to megagames and read our posts? no! if you want something done then do it yourself. work towards tacking down the RIAA if you want work towards making it safe to dl music if you want but if you really want to make a difference do something, fight the power, do something about it, dont just sit staring blankly reading comments and posting something, do something about, and who knows you may be part of the solution.

Furthermore, the RIAA's days are numbered - at least they are with their present business model. Technology has made large corporate music studios completely obsolete. It is becoming cheaper and EASIER for artists to be heard and to distribute their music whilst remaining completely INDEPENDENT of the big labels. Doing away with the big studios altogether would finally get rid of payola and just MAYBE more and more radio stations will be worth listening to again.Plus i seriously doubt the RIAA will be able to bust my ass - what with me being on the opposite side of the world and everything. But at least I'm not letting the RIAA RAPE me in the ass continually......and then scream at others who wont bend over and take one from them as well. "No wonder people don't pay for music. People like you only care for yourself." I didn't realise that the corporations were in charge of my life. Stop sucking Hillary Rosen's c0ck (I wouldn't be surprised if that fat ugly b!tch has one) and STFU ok. We're not cheapasses, we're just smart enough to run our own lives (as opposed to you you filthy corporate whore).

I think I understand now - BUY MUSIC DAMN IT is a brick wall. Or at least he's as dense as one. We WANT to buy music you assclown. The issue here isnt whether or not we can afford it - it never has been. The issue here is that the RIAA is SCREWING ALL OF US. What do I have to do to pound that fact through your stupid f*cking skull. And like i said BEFORE (but you probably didn't read it....or couldn't because you're so stupid) the RIAA is screwing us again through DRM by trying to tell us what we can and can't do with the CD's they sell. If you really want, I can dig up the story of a guy who bought a CD published by EMI - and had to make a pirate copy just so he could listen to the damned thing.I could repeat my last few posts but I'm not going to.......why dont you READ them and visit the following sites and EDUCATE YOURSELF you stupid sh!t http://www.dontbuycds.org http://www.boycot-riaa.com http://www.downhillbattle.org Maybe then you'll understand EXACTLY why we're complaining - we want FAIR PRICE and FAIR USE and the RIAA aren't giving us either.

I also forgot to point out that the testing done on those CD-R's wasn't particularly realistic. Unless I am mistaken, the ageing process simulated upon the media tested was equivalent to 25-50 YEARS of ageing. If you really think that CD's need to last that long, then you are indeed a moron.

Ok.....there are crappy quality CD's out there.......i didnt need an ignorant fool such as yourself to point that out. Furthermore, it does not negate the FACT that CD's are DIRT CHEAP MEDIA. And on top of that, the RIAA makes money on ALL blank CD-R sales, regardless of what they are used for (in accordance with an ammendment to the Digital Home Recording act, which stipulates that part of the pricing of all blank media includes a small "piracy compensation" charge). And as I pointed out EARLIER (based on information from http://www.dontbuycds.org), I asked the question - If Audio Cassettes and Vinyl records are MORE EXPENSIVE cost-wise for record companies, why are they being retailed CHEAPER THAN CD's. It's bordering on an apples/oranges comparison I know but based on ELEMENTARY ECONOMICS one would think that the record companies would strive to maximise their profit margins accross the board. But a simple counter-argument just jumped into my mind. Instead of fair and competitive pricing, the RIAA has found it easier (not to mention more profitable) to screw gullible consumers such as yourself over for the price of CD's, cause hey, who listens to audio tapes after all (or vinyl for that matter, even if it has quality that cannot even be matched by CD's). And don't get me started about DRM. It's bad enough that they're expecting us to cough up exorbitant amounts of money for CD's.....but the RIAA also wants to tell us HOW we can listen to it. I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty PISSED OFF if I bought an over-priced CD that I can't play on my laptop or desktop machine (which is PERFECTLY LEGAL the last time I checked)....hell some of there CD's are so well "protected" that they WON'T EVEN PLAY ON BRAND NEW STEREO SYSTEMS (check dontbuycds.org before you accuse me of making stuff up). I don't care if you're a spoiled rich brat, call me a cheapass all you want, but don't wail on us just because we want big business to DO THE RIGHT THING AND STOP SCR

Um... I am a supporter of online music sharing, and I think that not only do people download illegal music because it is 1. Free It is also: 2. Faster than driving up to the place using MY gas to buy an $8 CD (Yes, indeed a waste) or walking up to the bus and paying a buck, sitting next to people I really wouldn't want to sit with, or if the record store is that close (which it isn't in my case), walking up to the store. 3.Customization: I don't want to fork over cash for an $8-15 CD when there's only one song I want on the disc, damnit. Downloading allows me the freedom of getting the songs I want WHEN I want and HOW I want. 4. Reliability: When I get a song on my computer, it is going to STAY on my computer (unless I delete it). A CD can easily be scratched or broken, in which case I would have to pay for a $70-150 CD cleaner or replace the CD entirely. 5. Ease of mixing: I'm no DJ, but I like the ability of easily downloading just the songs I want then just as easily adding them to a mix CD or record to play at parties or for myself and such. And 6. It does, in a way, bond me to other people. By seeing how many people are sharing the song I search for, it assures me that there are people that like the same music, and when downloading, I don't get any weird looks when people see me buying a CD of a band they don't like.If you read this, thank you, and please remember the reasons why we do it; not just because it's free.

To BuhYou are an idiot. Music CD already drop from $25 to $15. Some of them cost no more than $8. You don't tell you can't afford $8 of music CD? You are indeed a cheapass! As for CD quality, there is a difference in quality. Only an idiot like you that can't tell the difference. If you never visited http://cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_quality.shtml#CD-R%20Quality%20Results, then STFU retard! Where is that 80% come from? Did you made it up? Where is your proof? You got none because you just made it up. As for "And don't give me this BS that I "owe the record companies". That is total crap. The RIAA is a business like any other - it has to EARN its money from me, it has to GIVE ME A REASON TO BUY. And after my last trip to the CD store, the companies FAILED to earn any money from me. I guess I'm just not dumb enough to fork out that much money for the sh!tty-assed pop junk the companies are spewing out these days." You just as guilty as anyone else. You listen to garbage music & yet you critize people for forking out pop junkie music. You are indeed an idiot. Listening music, trash talk about music & don't want to pay a dime. You obviously have been brainwashed into thinking that paying US$25 for a music CD is 'value for money'. Quite simply, that is a LOAD OF BS. If CD's are such good value for money, then why is the RIAA being investigated for market collusion and PRICE GOUGING!!!?!?!? Labelling and packaging cost pennies you dumbass.....and it just happens to be coincedence that pennies is exactly how much your favourite artist will get from your CD purchase. And what is this BS about CD quality??? To my knowledge there is practically NO DIFFERENCE in quality between the many kinds of recording layers availible for CD's (the only things that vary a great deal are the colour and the max burn speed, neither of which matter in this argument). Besides, the quality of a music CD depends upon the quality of the SOURCE MATERIAL. If your source material sounds sh!tty, well guess what asswipe, the CD is gonna sound sh!tty as well, no matter how "high quality" the medium is. I would estimate (and some would say this is a modest estimate) that 80% of the retail price of a music CD is PURE PROFIT for the record company. Now if you want to get screwed until you're bleeding from both ends by the RIAA and it's buddies (Sony, EMI etc.) that's your business. Just don't call me a cheapass just because I don't want to get screwed. And don't give me this BS that I "owe the record companies". That is total crap. The RIAA is a business like any other - it has to EARN its money from me, it has to GIVE ME A REASON TO BUY. And after my last trip to the CD store, the companies FAILED to earn any money from me. I guess I'm just not dumb enough to fork out that much money for the sh!tty-assed pop junk the companies are spewing out these days.

Cheapass??? I think I should lay down a few facts. CD's are without doubt the CHEAPEST medium out there. Audio tapes and Vinyl records (remember those???) are more expensive to produce than CD's these days (audio tapes need assembly, vinyl records are more expensive to ship because they're more fragile). The only cheapasses out there are the record companies. None of you will know this (because none of you retarded babies were born yet) but 20 years ago record companies said that once CD's became more mainstream their prices would drop. And what happens??? THE PRICES GO UP. The simple fact is that with their current business model, labels like RIAA CANNOT and (hopefully) WILL NOT survive. They can scream all they want about copyright, but we as consumers have a right to FAIR USE, and this cannot be taken away from us without dismantling democracy....although from all that i read that has more or less been done in America already. The sooner RIAA starts RESPECTING its customers instead of suing them, the longer they might just survive. But to be honest, consumers and the recording industry alike would benefit greatly from the RIAA's death.

youll never stop this problempeople will just find an ingenious way to get it such as get a good enough sound card to hook up to your radio or internet radio and just live capture record it. suprise RIAA, people do that all the time and there is no way you can stop them i think that the RIAA should just get on the p2p train if you want to make music off of it. I personally wouldnt mind paying maybe 50 cents a song as long as i knew that 40 cents of it went to the artist i mean come on they are the ones that put their time and effort and soul into creating the music I think its time that america stands up for itself sueing for downloading songs is just like terrorism to me people live in fear now because the big bad RIAA is going to sue them. and one other thing QUIT SUEING POOR DEFENSELESS LITTLE CHILDREN DIRTBAGS

On one hand, I can see where you're coming from wanted to stop people from downloading music instead of supporting the artist by not buying it from a store, but seriously, most of the music that's downloaded is either stuff that can't be found in a store, is outragously expensive, or no one wants to buy a whole album just for the one or two songs that they like. And if you're going to wine about the actual artists not getting support...an average of 10 cents a cd actually goes back to the artist....hm, interresting.

*sigh* The entertainment business has become more about business than entertainment. That may explain the numerous low-quality products out there. Don't get me wrong, not everything's bad, but I just feel that some people aren't putting in as much effort to make a good quality product as before. If the sole purpose to make music, make movies, do art, ... anything like that ... is to make money, it really isn't worth any price is it? Just a thought.

Once people find one way to stop or slow it down (yeah right), the more programs and the ways of getting pirated files becomes easier and more accessible. RIAA and other "piracy fighters" just give up...you're just wasting time and money. The only way you can stop it is to shut down the internet(ha ha like that will ever happen!). No matter what happens to piracy it will never ever die!!! LONG LIVE PIRACY AND THE INTERNET!!!!

This so called “war” has already been won… Filesharing is impossible to stop as long as the internet exists. The most the RIAA can hope for is enough restrictions to give a hard time to all the idiots who can only use KaZaA to fulfill their downloading needs. All this so called “Piracy” is simply a natural result of the advances made available to us threw technology. Nobody could burn cds if we didn’t have CD Burners. I’m sick of everybody only looking at the so called negative side of things. The truth is no matter what you do.. it will end up supporting the economy in one way or another. We all pay for the internet, we all watch tv, we all pay taxes, and we all have advertising, spam, and “free” software rammed down our throat. We all pay for cdrs, computers, burners, cdplayers, dvdplayers, ps2’s, xbox’s.. any hardware the list is endless. So what you are able to get out of your money after that in my opinion is your own business. Its always nice to have originals and legally purchased software but the simple fact is we all have a limited budget. What difference does it make which portion of the stock market gets your 15dollars at the end of the day? If cd and dvd prices drop down to cdr and dvdr prices… or I get rich… then I will “support” the “artists/actors” (cough RIAA cough) until then I will continue to get the most out of my few dollars. Right now I just cant afford to pay more for your 1’s and 0’s.

To RIAA supporterIf RIAA pay for us infamous artist, then I would agree. So far the big company already put a choke hold on the artist like myself. Basically put us in the street. It's hard enough for the artist to come up with $50,000 in recording. So far RIAA have deceived alot of consumers, thinking they are doing this for the artist. RIAA never support the artist, they support the big corporation. Artist don't make money from record industries. Artist make their money thru live performance. So if you think buying CD will helps artist, think again. You only help label company & supply RIAA with infinite wealth.

Your definition of music is f**king scary RIAA Supporter. Use KaZaA Lite everyone because it works better and there is no spyware. Download spybot search and destroy to kill spyware, its great kills everything, and get some decent virus software, norton works (sort of). RIAA isn't going to win, at least not in Canada, so even if they win in the USA we will still be able to give them all the songs they need. Also, f**k the satelite companies who bitch about people stealing their signals. STOP f**kING BEAMING YOUR GOD DAMN TV SIGNALS INTO MY DISH OR ILL SUE YOU!

Hey guys dont diss RIAA. They are good people trying to support our good singers, like Eminem, Beyonce, BritneySpears,JeniferLopez,50cent etc. Without those good singers and dancers the music today would be nothing! I never download music. I have all the cds of the most popular Singers like Shakira, Christina Aquliera. Because everyone likes it and then i get popular! Guys stop downloading, and support these good singers, Who doesent like the catchy toone of Ops I did it again! Thanks for reading this, I just thought I should say my meanings. Riaa is doing a fabilous job on the crimes against piracy and Terror.

From now on USE Kazaa Lite ++. No Spyware...no Download Fee. Let thos guys in South america and Africa host the files cuz there not gunna get in trouble....Remove the Files from your share folder the second they complete. And movies are being shared...and its getting easyer now that more and more people realize that 256kbps isnt fast enuf broadband anymore. 3 years ago a 150mb game took 36 hours plus to download not counting the times it needed to be restarted..no that same game is bearly 35 mins. So dont get to hasty in saying that the net isnt going to change life as we know it. On another Point.... I take history as a example here....Napster got canned. It took all of like 3 weeks for other P2P networks to realize why it got shut down (Napster hosted the file lists of its users on centeralized Servers) and the newer P2P guys just stopped that and all the sudden the people who wrote the software where outta the range of Law suits...sence they didnt control the content. Kazaa, wants to charge 30$ to use its software...well the RIAA thinks that is prophiting from Pirated Music. Even tho Kazaa dosnt "Police" its networks, RIAA thinks there responcible. What could Kazaa do to get outta hot water? Exactly what they are doing now...Sueing the RIAA for using there service to Presue Legal Cases against its users. Kazaa is a FILE SHARING Peer to Peer network...If they go bankrupt because people fear persicution from RIAA ...then Kazaa will have a perfect lawsuit. Its like if a swap meet was shut down by the National Baseball League cuz people where trading baseball cards with other patrions. It dont make sence to expect a copywrite to not be Infrenged apon by individuals. If a Record Label started putting out Britney Spears CDs for 7$ and they didnt own the rights to the songs....i could see a RIAA lawsuit....but you tell me that after i pay upwards of 23$ for a CD that i dont have any writes to "SHARE" what ive bought is LUdicris. If I buy a New Sports Car i should hav

As Long as I pay 50 US dollars each month, I have the right to whatever i want with that bandwidth. Every law on the books about sharing copywrited material has to do with charging for it. Kazaa wanted to charge a fee to use/download its software. Thats why they are getting hammered...same with the old Napster....you charge for access to Pirated media your gunna end up with a lawsuit. If me and 45million like minded people wanna share the CDs we purchased its our buesness...as long as we dont charge for it. Laws have already been set on this issue. RIAA thinks it should get a cut....if they want a cut....they should start there own Peer2Peer group charge 99cents a song lol....lets see how many people sign up for that after they sue everyone and there family pets for sharing..lol. RIAA WANTS YOU to break the law...they dont want to sue you...they want to settle with you. and im not afraid of going to court and argueing how rediculious it is that a Industrial Watch dog like RIAA broke Laws in obtaining the "EVIDENCE" from my ISP for a single user. You Dont just Spam every ISP with Supenas asking for Records about what i looked at...Privacy is my right! If McDonalds Sued everyone who didnt buy fried with there burger they wouldnt be in buesness anymore....If you get sued by RIAA...Sue your ISP for they handing out your personal information. WHAT DOSE THE RIAA NEED WITH MY EMAIL PASSWORD?

Hell ISP's could just charge like 10 dollars and do one better.Give it back to the artists!!!! Like RingMaster. :) So RIAA doesn't get money RIAA doesn't own publishing artist rights. RIAA loses out. ISP wins Users Win Artists win because the money goes to ISP's and then the ISP's can pass money on to the artists.

Why doesn't every ISP just put like 10 dollars as a small extra charge on downloading music.Just have Internet Service Subscribers put a small 5 dollar or 10 dollar fee just on every ISP account. Money goes to RIAA. Problem solved. RIAA buggers off.

Eminem The Faggot Singer.Yeah I have agree with you because I saw the interview on MSNBC and 50 cent was on there saying that it was good that there was more distribution of songs online and that sales increased because of the online sharing software. f**k the RIAA. Its all f**king American anyway. Just the big companies hunting the small people over. In the end they rip us, the listeners off they rip off the musicians off and they end up making a shitload of money anyway its really like blackmail. All the artists who are good will make sales because they are good and all the artists who are shit can hopefully die off and go living in some third world country or something. Long Live Kazaa. Long Live The Net Revolution. f**k the RIAA f**k TCPA insertion

To quote a certain song: (har har the ƒucking irony)"Back once again... for the Renegade Master Dee Four Damage Four... Power To The People - Fat Boy Slim, Wild Child aka Renegade Master" Its all the faggot artists like 'Eminem' who rely on a so called 'fan base' to get all their money. People like 'real artists' who do it for the love and for the fans and are not trying to rely on their total income as per sales of the latest hit that will live into the 20th century. Just because Eminem tries to assault Moby with all his faggot black backdoor chums as the MTV awards and Moby runs off. At least Moby knows to ignore the likes of Eminem who hangs out with Elton John the gay c**t. Also just because Eminem's CD sales are down he does the f**king 8 mile movie I mean come the ƒuck on. Thats so rigged.

they say theyre losing money because people are getting the music for free, assuming that if they couldnt download the music they would go out and buy the CD's. problem with that is that I never buy CD's, I listen to the radio and when I hear a song I like I download it so I can listen to it whenever I want to. I don't want to buy a CD loaded with crap for just 1 song, and I don't have a credit card to pay for single songs off the internet, so the only option is to download them.

I used to record songs off radio onto tape all the time, and would play em back whenever I wanted to hear the song. I see no real difference now days excepting the richness of my collection, which begs the question, would you perfer me to have money and buy your incredible music, to be inspired by and moved by your music, or would you rather me be dumb to your existence, voiding any implied developments..This display of panic by the RIAA and various musicians who dont know any better is really just the proccess of shedding the old mind, information by its very natrue wants to be free, the paradigm shift has already anchored itself, why? because sueing 12 year olds and grand parents its just stupid to their dead cause, plain and simple. my opinion

I heard somewhere that the money the RIAA makes from sueing individual users goes only to them and not to the recording artists. Is this true? As a musician myself I support the RIAA's cause, however I absolutely disagree with their approach. There's got to be another way to make listeners pay for their music than sue and threaten.
