I am just wondering what happened to all of these people that bought a ATI card and got a voucher for HL2. I guess the graphics card will be worn out before HL2 actually hits the market. No matter how many forums there may be or how much the hype is being fed: I will believe HL2 is out only when I see it in the stores with my own eyes.

Although I hate it when a game as anticipated as Half Life 2 gets delayed over and over, at least you know that they are still working hard on it. Every day that it gets delayed means a release that is that much better, and if you dont have anything better to do that rant and rave for no better reason than to see your post up on a forum site, you have some serious problems

Why doesn't someone actually get fired for all these delays? This game was supposed to be out in 2003! Obviously it seems these people should hire more developers for their team. After all this BS they've been giving and not being able to come through, I'm not going to even buy the game. I refuse to spend my good money on a company which is ran like this. Hopefully, other people will feel the same way. I don't care how good this game is going to be. I hope whoever is in charge of Valve sees this and starts getting their company to actually run like a good company should. Just imagine if these people were your auto-mechanic or better yet your doctor.

Have any of you played Half Life 2 BETA?It's nothing but a bunch of bugs! The game is barely finished, on almost every wall or texture, there's nothing but an orange box saying "Insert Texture Here-60x60" or whatever, and there's no AI, the models for characters aren't finished, a few of the world textures have been added, the game is THE most buggiest game I have ever played, it crashes just about everytime you play it and the gun models suck shit, the textures for them look like low-res photos that have been pasted into the game! They better f**kin clean HL2 up or they're not gonna sell very well! He's some advice don't get HL2!

What decent, succesful games have they made apart from Half-Life and Counter-Strike, NOTHING! And I hated those gay games! Then take at look at Atari, Activision, EA, Westwood (When it was alive), Midway, Sega, etc. Now those are reputable, remembered names in gaming, who've all made countless numbers of Classic games in the past or present. I mean, no one f**kin knows what Valve is, all they remember is "CS" and "HL". And Half-Life has just been blown out of proportion, so Valve can milk every last dollar out of HL. f**kin hell, first it was HL, then comes the shithouse expansions like Team Fortress, Blue Shift and so on, then Valve goes over the top with CS once they see that lots of try-hard, 12 year old, know-it-all, teenybopper kids starting buying CS like mad. I mean what the f**k is the difference between CS, Condition Zero, 1.6 and CS Source, apart from lame water effects, 2 new guns, 6 new models and bunch of shit maps.... NOTHING! If you're getting HL2 just for mods, you're better off skipping it and picking up BF 1942 or BF:Vietnam. If you're getting HL2 for singleplayer, then don't expect much because it's almost exactly the same thing as HL1 with better graphics and sound.

OK guys there is a simple law you must remember when it comes to Half Life 2 release dates and it is... xX-The Law of HL2 Release Dates-Xx, it simply means, take the current release date 30th Sept, 2004, and multiply by 9999 Billion and times that figure by the number of release dates given by Valve. Your calculator should say "ERROR" or "HALF LIFE 2 WILL BE RELEASED ON THE 30th OF SEPTEMBER 6734".

Half Life 2 will definately be the game of the year, probably equaling closely will Doom 3. For all of you saying that HL2 will be released on or before the 30th of September, here's a newsflash idiots!!!!!
This is Valve were talkin about, the game was originally supposed to come out at the end of last year for f**ks sake, but nooooo, then somebody steals the source code and Valve goes on mad hunting-spree tryin to find and prosecute the f**kers who stole it and delayed the game. Then they decide to re-code the whole f**kin game from scratch cuz they don't want any cracks,hacks,trainers or any shit like that to be made before the game is even released. Then at the start of this year they say the game will be released around April-June, it's f**kin August NOW!!!! All that legal, prosecution shit took half a year to get over with! For f**ks sake they could have just concentrated on the game instead of hunting down some lousy nerds who stole their precious code and squeezing them for all their worth.

both doom 3 and hl2 will be great but different. all review sites talk about how hl2 will have the most real physic engine (helped with Havok) where everything can be used or damaged. and with the best AI that they have seen... doom 3 will have the best fear factor in a game (you will not be blowing up zombies every second) you will turn around and when it is to late something got you. from all sight they say visually both are the same but different (better lighting in doom 3... more realistic movement and character expresions) both will be great and everyone on this site will either play both or own them.

Heres a rumor valve have hired the creator of bittorrent to upgrade steam which would work out great since those downloading can UL/DL the same files from each other.
(think of downloading Hl2 via a cupon voucher with 1000's of other people on the release date)

It's a porting over to source i dont think i would pay to play CS:S since it's just an engine upgrade. The players could of done that easyly what i would pay for is CS2 that is entirely new models new weapons new maps(maybe new vechs) that also goes for TFC:S and DOD:S. I doubt the source versions will be that much different from the current one.

both companies went with different tech. nividia does shader 3.0 and ATI does 3Dc. both will gain more performance but what is better???i believe that 3dc will be better in the long run (if you still own a 2000 to 3000 cpu) it will increase performance more than shader 3.0 (with the best visuals of shader 3.0 compared the the gained texture surface of 3dc... 3dc will have more of a visual impact on the whole game than shader 3.0) but if not enough games use it then shader 3.0 will win.

what is everyone talking about??? the first doom 3 beta demo showed that the fx 5800 was faster than the 9800 pro... now we know that this is not true and infact the fx line can not run shader 2.0 with out a huge performance hit. all of these demo programs are set up to use the newest newest nividia drivers, now if we wait until the game is out we will see ati make a driver update for doom 3 that will change things (nividia in turn will do the same for hl2... because i know that the ati card will be better from the beginning as well).so both cards are good... the drivers just need to be updated to run games that were made for the other video card company. this is something to think about if you are looking to buy a new video card. ati x800 (or better) needs a power full cpu to run it at full power (AMD 64 to a P4 extreme edition) with every web site the best ati card with an AMD 64 3400 + cpu (set at a high iq) will out perform the 6800 (same card level... E.G. 6800 GT to X800 pro) now does that mean you should buy an ati... no... if you do not plan to buy a brand new motherboard cpu and just want to add it to your good AMD or P4 (2000 to 3000 level CPU)system, then buy a 6800. you will get better performance out of it than with any ati model now what is the fastest card???(even if you look at a doom 3 machine (set at a high iq)) it would be an AMD FX-53 with an ATI X800 XT-PE video card. but who has the money for it... for us average high end user a 6800 will do fine and be better, but if we already have those next gen cpu then get ATI. http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NjMyLDI= p.s. iq = AA and AF. the higher the multiplier the better the visual quality

why did they start off free and now they try to milke every last bit of your wallet and suck your tit dry. all the new updates are really stupid. i can't believe no one stopped them from releasing condition zero, do you realize they released the same game that you can get for free except with a single player. how could you possibly pay for that, i can't believe that. now they are making source and the only thing good about that is the water, still the same player models and all. this should be a crime i swear.

Also Frank do you realease how little difference there is between PC3200 RAM and PC2700 RAM, it is only milliseconds faster and the user won't notice any difference! I would be more worried about the amount of RAM and the speed of your CPU and Vid card.

Frank: You are the idiot, if you stopped getting all worked up and listen for a sec. I said P4 3.0, but my processor is a stock 2.53 Processor, the motherboard which I got with the processor around a year ago only supported PC2700 Ram so I bought 512 meg of it when I upgraded. Since then I added another 512 meg to make 1024 meg of PC2700 Ram, I didn't upgrade the memory speed then because you can't mix 2 sticks of different speed RAM. Listen again calmly, I have overclocked my 2.53 to 3.0 gighz, my Motherboard doesn't support anything above 333mhz PC2700 Ram, and I have my RAM in turbo mode, in actuall fact my RAM is running a 420 mhz not 333 mhz which will make stuff all difference even if I threw in PC3200 Ram or above. I have since upgraded my Bios which allows me to use faster RAM, but what is the point if I can overclock my current RAM anyhow? Gotta love Asus M'boards ;)

if you want really good gfx and multiplay with a huge mod community coming out go play farcry. just go an read the mod list on the site. there are others too that they dont mention like a jurrasic park one, they even have a star wars mod coming out soon. they have all sorts of army ones and futuristic ones and survival horror.

It'll take about 23 hours to beat Doom 3. Go read PC Gamer.As for Counter-Strike: Source, it's all about milking you for more money and you have seemed to by into that. The only new thing in CS:Source will be the lame water effects but other then that, graphics look really close to CS 1.6 and gameplay is basically the same as CS 1.6. You can tell how valve are milking the CS name. -Counter-Strike 1.6
-Counter-Strike: Condition Zero
-Counter-Strike: Source
-Counter-Strike 2 really, how many CS do we need in a short period of time. Also, don't expect HL2 to have a mod community as big as HL1 because won is being taken down and not alot of people are liking steam so they went to go play something else.
I for one will not be buying HL2 until it's in the bargin for $20 in 6 months and until then, I'm going to download HL2 and beat it then delete it and as for multiplayer with HL2 etc, I won't be using it because you are gonna have to use steam and I for one will not be using a piece of junk program that makes you login and remember your password just to play online for 30 mins or whatever and not to mention there are many more problems with steam on it works.

you guys seem to be forgetting that single player isnt the only thing to concider here. With counter-strike scorce being released with every copy of half-life 2 the game and its engine are going to be massive!!Expect the modding community to be working their asses off bringing out new single and multiplayer mods for the game engine. i cant wait!!!

Comeon guys HL rocked, for its time it was groundbreaking, graphics, playability, I loved that game. I never ever played any of the mods because by the time they were released I had finished the game and lost interest, but I am not forgetting how much fun it was to complete. HL2 will be just as great I think, and Doom III will be just as much fun but in a different way, D3 is more of a scare your a$$ off game whereas HL2 won't as much but will be fun in other ways ! I just hope my P4 3.0 gig, 1024 meg of PC2700 RAM and 9800 XT will be strong enough to play these games in 1600X1200, my favourite resolution ;)

Five odd years ago i picked up hl it looked just like any other game. Once i actually started though i couldent stop this game did stuff no other game could at the time. It fixed me to the spot for two days till i finally finished the game and regained my social life. Thus ending the clever trap set by valve.Now lets all play doom3 till it gets boring and redundant due to the total lack of multiplayer! Yay!!

at 19:15 27/7/2004 Half-Life kept getting reviews over 9 out of 10 so I went out and got it about 2 weeks after it's release and man, was I in for a surprise, right at the begining, I'm like when the f**k will I get off this f**kin train. I was lucky enough that I beat the game because I found alot of it just boring that I just didn't want to play it ever again. Don't get me wrong, Doom 3 doesn't have exactly a sharp story either but Doom3 isn't suppose to be story driven and I don't expect Doom 3 to be story driven but more like, scare the crap outta ya and blast some aliens as to HL and HL2, it's suppose to be story driven and really, the story sucked balls in HL and also, what kinda creativity does valve, have you seen 1 of the aliens in HL2 that almost looks the same as the bug in starship troopers?.Can you say ripoff?. Valve also get more credit then they deserve because the only game they actually made is Half-Life and let's face it, once valve took over DoD and CS, these mods were getting worse and worse with each update. TFC hasn't changed much IMO. I was also lucky enough, a ton of mods started popping up everywhere that made worthy of my purchase.

whose professionals are we talking about ati's or valve's. the name valve says it all. the game is mere sewer grabage. and the game is not out so how could you say that it is the best game ever. look how cool i look, just look at me with a gravity gun. how interesting i can smash boxes on alien heads. maybe if you are lucky you can use the gravity gun and pull your brain out just for playing the damn game. i am not a huge fan of doom but atleast doom has originality to it.

If they would make it easier for Half life users to get the game, they would indeed keep the huge community that it has. Such as trading half life 1 cd keys and 30 dollars for a full copy or something like that. If they dont, you'll find a lot of people changing to other games, or just staying with hl1

half life was the boringest game ever, i do agree, i played it when it first came out and i just stopped after the part where you get out of some sewer. i sold the damn thing about 2 years ago to some dumb ass who wanted to play counter strike. counter strike just gets worse and worse. every new thing they try to do with it turns in to a disaster. after seeing cs:source i think it will be the same cs with better looking water. the characters look like the same characters from 5 years ago that only have about 30 polygons. and once again killing alien insects and having a ripoff story line from the movie the pianist is not interesting at all. i bet that gabe and his fat ass think that giant spiders are spooky,oohhhh, that is it spooky, spooky is not scary. as for doom3 wil probably make you soil yourself more than once. this game might be perfect for people who have arachnaphobia, maybe psychologists can find a use for it since pc gamers can't.

I expect HL2 to be very boring in gameplay terms just like how HL1 is very boring in gameplay terms. Not to mention the story blows ass in HL. I don't know how many people can like HL single player. I found it very boring and dull with sub-par level design. Hopefully, HL2 won't last as long in popularity like the first HL. The only reason why HL was kept alive was because of mods. This new program by valve called Steam will be the product to bring them into extinction.

I don't think that is that many release dates. And I think people have had to wait a LOT longer for DNF than for HL2.

"ht^4000" h=half life 2 t=date the game was anounced now just take that and do the math and the answer my calculator gave was "dont buy this game because it wont come out anytime soon"

I can understand the healthy skepticism pervading the boards over the 'guestimated' release date. 'Figure that Valve'll be off by about a month, so my shiny nickel's on a October 31st release date. And frankly, that's not bad from a gamer standpoint. At that point, FPS fans such as myself will have given Doom 3 a thorough workout, and Half-Life 2 will give us another Christmas-come-early gift to waste our sleep hours. Dollars-to-donuts, though, Doom 3's August release date definitely put considerable pressure on the Valve team to expedite HL2's release.

I wish I would not have know anything about this game unit its release date.This hype has cause me to go see a shrink.I'm on medication now and probally scarred for life.We can all rest becasue Doom3 will be availible in less than 10days.We have something to play till HL2 comes out.I used to think that HL2 will look better but I think Doom3 takes the taco.Also I want to be scared out of my mine and they are saying Doom3 will do that.I want HL2 for the physics.
