hey u alli was reading atomic magazine, and they had a inside look at futuremarks 3d mark 2005, and it looks absolutely amazing. It is only dirextx 9.0a, b and c. There is non of that direct x 8.1 crap. All u gamers that think doom 3's graphics were great you ain't seen nothing yet. And all u gamers that complained about high system requirements just wait, this will make even the most current beasty systems beg for mercy. Whats even better is that futuremark is considering doing an id and selling the engine to developers. Which will absolutely kick ass, imagine that an engine that looks better than d3. Finaly some competition for id. Try googling 3d mark 2005 for some screen shots.

I enjoyed Doom 3 for its scaryness. I didn't really enjoy the multiplayer it just didn't keep me all the entertained.
Also I really really hope they don't put vehicles in Quake 4 multiplayer. I actually enjoy having levels you can walk around and have fast fragging action. Not massive levels that you just do lots of walking to find a vehicle to drive 5 miles and get blow up in. Thats my bitch about vehicles in FPS.

Also they seemed to have made high resolution models, with low textured surroundings, sure they will fix this buy the time the game comes out.
To all the people that say it is going to be stupid with a 4 player limit because it is on the doom 3 engine. This has already been fixed with doom3 now supporting up to 32 players.
This game looks good, and I just hope it plays smoothly on my computer.
Go doom 3, go farcry, go half life 2, go every game, because these companies have spent years developing them so we should thank them.

I dunno how everyone can keep slating games that other people like just cuz you dont like them. I mean, I still love playing Super MArio Bros on the SNES and even indulge in some Pong and even some bloody Space Invaders on the Atari still! Why? Cuz the gameplay is addictive and still fun even though an inch of dust has to be cleaned off the games each time! Maybe you shouldn't judge a game before its released, make sense? If the graphics looked like an Atari game then fair enough, but they dont, theyre pretty impressive. No one knows about gameplay yet even if they played the Leaked code as there is no single player and even some of the textures are friggin missing! I thought Doom 3 was guna be excellent cuz of the graphics, i was pretty wrong as i got bored after 3 hours as all the features that are meant to be in it dont even provide a use or a novelty. Dont keep slating unreleased games like HL2. Now onto the point...Quake games have a history of greatness. Quake 1 was revolutionary, 2 was pretty awesome and included a storyline that wasn't all that bad, and 3 provided hours and hours of unending online mayhem! How can 4 possibly be bad if it has storyline single player and Q3 style multiplayer with apparently kickass graphics?

Bs about D3 engine not suiting. Most quality games used Id's Q3 engine and thats a fact.
D3 isnt all about dark coridors, its about light interfearing with object and revealving more detail causing overally detailed mesh.
Dont you guys remember how they argued who can play Q3 with more than 40, 70, 100 FPS. This will only push software and hardware developement

Cult you are stupid, they have been talking about it for ages, Raven are developing Quake IV using ID's engine.I don't see whats so great about HL2 engine anyway, the physics are ok, the wind effects on small objects like bottles are scripted. So the objects roll in the same direction everytime. The fire is as bad as the original doom fire coming out of a barrel. Its just so terrible, 2D fire, if you've played CS source you can analyse it, otherwise the binks show enough anyway.
What else is good about it, shiny floors and shiny reflective things, well Medal of Honor Pacific Assault is going to beat HL2 to that, because in the demo, the tracks left behind by the planes have the same shiny effects as HL2's floors and roof in the source bink clip.
And the light shining into the room, well Medal of Honor Pacific assualt beats it there as well. Check out the demo, you can see the prized HL2 effects without even playing the game. And the AI will be the same calibre as other AI on the market today, you won't even notice it. HL2 will need to have a great plot and storyline to be a great game, I think it will pull it off, I just get sick of people overrating the engine.

Also if your into spooky games then you will probally enjoy say Doom3 or say Silent Hill over Half-Life 2. Really if you happen to like one Genre then you will probally only enjoy one type of game such as Horror, RTS, Fast paced shooter, RPG and so on.
However if you like more than one genre can't you just enjoy Doom 3 and HL2?
I know I enjoy Doom 3 and I have HL2 on pre-order for a few reasons. One Half-Life was fun and had lots of cool mods. The stuff we have seen of HL2 looks cool. Such as movies, screens and the leaked version. I want to be able to play HL2 on steam.

Good point yldee, why can't we enjoy all games? I enjoy Doom 3 to this day and can't get enough of it. Da_Ork, u're forgeting that by the time Quake 4 arrives people will have better comps and will be able to run the Doom engine powered Quake with ease, even with a 32 player DM. as for the dummies who like JUST Doom 3 or Half-Life 2, u guys know that all of u bought Doom 3 and WILL buy Half-Life 2 so just stop bitching like little fags and write something conserning the topic or go to a hate forum and be gay there.

If quake 4 is as fun as any of the quake series then it will rock. It does bother me that its based on Doom 3 engine though.
The doom 3 engine looked great. It was great for doom 3. Spooky atmosphere including lighting.
The problem is that all the quakes when they have been realised have run quite nicely on system of the day for decent size deathmatch's. If you go around Doom 3's player limit then it starts to run dodgy on most machines...

i have very good faith in Raven making a good story line, they always do, and their multiplayer is always the best so while ive never played any quake except the first one in solo, ill get quake4 out of pure faith.

Has it occurred to anyone that half life 2 might be good,that quake 4 might be good,stalker might be good,and doom 3 is good,and that liking any of the latest games does not require a hatred of all the others? just a thought..

Doom 3 on the lowest quality settings still looks better than half the games out there and it runs on a low system brillaintly.The fact is HL2 engine is not as cracked up as everyone thinks. The fire is totally shit, the physics engine is good, but not every object is movable which is annoying. And everyone knows that Doom 3 engine is f**king brillaint. Better graphics than HL2 anyday.
