HL blows. I remember everything, HL was being praised from almost every single gaming site or magazine, I took their word for it and got HL. To my surprise, HL stunk like ass, not only is it boring but the story is so shit that I don't see how people say it's good. I really do hope HL2 flops just because maybe then and only then people will wake up and go back to HL1 and truely see how shit HL was on release day and today. Sorry HL can't hold a candle to anything.

One quick thing Mister Anon, the one that said HL SP was bad... Do you realize the AI alone in Half-Life has been praised so many times over? So many games have based there maps, concepts, and weapon types off HL1... its the pinnacle of gaming, for the time it was the ONLY original idea out there, there was only Quake 2 and crap like Daikatana.. HL1 soared above the rest in Implementation and Design... and so-far not one games come even remotely close to touching or heralding the glory that Half-Life has received from everyone in the game world... the only game i can think of that’s hailed more for its pure innovation is Duke 3D... at the time and for a few years it was "The Best" now with modern Tech, HL1 is still fighting and fighting strong... IMO and many others in the gaming world HL1 has the best storyline, awesome single player and well thought out game environments... REMEMBER when the game was made, and maybe you'll see that nothing in that time could have held a candle to what Valve did with Half-Life... oh and do I have to mention that the engine itself is the most widely used, more so that Epics Unreal tech?

it wouldve been possible to have outdoor enviroments whilst keeping DOOM3 SCARY if they came up with a better story..just imagine a claustrophobic outdoor environment..u got a shotgun only 4 rounds left only 24 health left..u can hear those chainsaws , u hear screams , u start running faster and faster,, u get lost ... then suddenly all the light on mars disappers .. ur outside .. demons and other f**ked up creatures are hunting u down,,u see something in athe distance...u cant make it out..but u think its a ship that might be able to get u back to earth..(missing story part).. once u arive back to earth u realise the demons have already taking over...u half eaten corpses on the streets ..all the buildings are still burning.. u seem some ppl u try to help them ..but theres no use..then u hear something...*BOOOM* BOOOM* u use ur shotgun...ur the lying on ur back...looking in the smoked up sky...and this demons eaten ur f**king brains out.....now that would've been kool if they had some GOOD story writers that could've made the game a f**kload better with outdoor enviroments WHILE still keeping it a f**kload scary...come on corridors only get scary for about 1 hour then it looses its touch(scaryness) so sad...

everyone knows that doom3 is suppose to be scary...but the engine can handle LARGE eviroments outside...it would've been enough that u had to get a spacesuit to go outside and travel to another base..and whilst travelling there u get attacked by this HUGE f**kING DEMON and u run as fast as u can to get to that other base using the LARGE outdoor evironment as cover and then u end up in this weird f**ked up forest and all these demons are hunting u down and ur just trying to get to that base,,,NOW that would be enough for the DOOM3 engine to handle...

As far as I see it, Doom and Half-Life are not much different, just the enemies and graphics (Doom wins here, and of course everything else) are different, but as I said before, it's all about how much you are going to immerse yourself into the game and learn about it.

The only problem with having multiple characters being rendered on the screen is the amount of real-time shadowing that has to be done. If you would turn off real-time shadowing, or just lower the detail of it down to say, something like HL2's real-time shadowing, you could have multiple characters rendered very easily.

stop bragging braniacs and wait till game is out. Im no fan of HL nor counter strike, but i know alot of people are most obsessed with it. History tends to repeat itself

When I said I don't see why anyone would want to play HL1, I meant that as in there are much better games currently out..only a fanboy would want to go back and play it. I love ID Software, but that doesn't mean I'm going to re-install Quake I and the original Wolfenstein..there are much better, more modern games I would have more fun with out currently.

I was the person who had first post. Valve doesn't "pwn" because they're still rookies compared to other game devs..Yeah, HL2 will probably be good..but not nearly as good as people are hyping it to be. HL1 sucks compared to modern games..I really don't see why anyone would want to play it. Half-Life would've been NOTHING without mods like CS..the singleplayer just sucks. HL2 looks like it's going to be much better, but I am looking forward to more innovative games like F.E.A.R. and possibly Quake IV.

i think its comical that vivendi and valve are at each others throats. Makes me smile that more delays are now possible because the developer and distributor are fighting. More delays , greed, sanctamony.....makes for an interesting soap opera.

You lot are just crazy. Valve are a great company. If you bitching cause Half-Life 2 is taking so long your going to have to wait. It will be worth the wait. Where still playing Half-Life 1 because its so good.
