Record companies and bands might just learn what it's like to be an ordinary schmuck. There are plenty of cab drivers, plumbers, cashiers, etc, etc out there who work bloody hard to make ends meet. They do a good job but dont earn millions of dollars, what makes a band any different? of video AND music.Price of a music CD= $14.99-$24.99 (Plus extra s/h in some cases)
Price of a DVD dics= $14.99-$24.99+/- Price to make a Movie for a DVD=Millions
and Millions of dollars.
Price to make a music CD=Thousands and
Thousands of dollars. Why do get to pay as much as a DVD (or VHS for that matter) movie for a music
CD, when the thing doesn't even have
2+/- hours of high quality video or any video at all (the quick time video quality in some multimedia music cds suck), and when movies cost so much to make comparted to music CDs? If anything is gonna make me stop buying
CDs is high prices, not Napster.
I still buy some CDs, and I use Napster
too, if the RIAA or Sony or Metallica or
Dr want me to buy their junk, they better lower their prices.

That is the main reason I LOVE downloading music off of napster. Not only am I sick of the overcharging for CDs, but I'm also sick of how record companies screw artists (myself included) out of money and make life miserable for musicians everywhere. 2 points I'd like to make:
1. Record companies have done more to harm bands (independent and other) than Napster ever will.
2. If artists were truly artists-they would be more interested in getting their music out there to the people than getting paid for every little bit... which, by the way, isn't a lot. Anyone that knows anything knows that record company executives take most of the money from bands which is why most bands aren't interested in putting out as many albums as they used to. Take a look at Smashing Pumpkins. Or even better yet-read what Courtney Love has written about how record companies operate-that is-if you're REALLY interested in learning about what you're talking about.
I really doubt that record execs feel a lot of guilt about the gouging they've done to consumers for the past 15 years

I have used other programs but I have found Napster to be "More reliable" in most cases. I think of downloading MP3's as a try before you buy, but with all this controversy I believe people will use this as an anti-RIAA act. It's really another case of the rich "Want and often" get richer. Napster will fight till the end, I just hope there are more that stand to fight!

No matter if they do close down napster there will still be smaller servers to get music from! Like mirc has people on there with there own music servers! U just goto www.mirc.com and d/l the program and u can get free music there too! U have to know dos though! Well Peace Out!

Napster was one of the first of its kind and has started a trend in that sort of downloading software. Even if somehow napster does get shut down it wont hurt anything, this whole deal with Metallica and Napster has just made Mp3s more popular then ever. I dont see how downloading Mp3s is any different from downloading anything any thing elese. Napster will never die out. *RD*

We must unite against music recording industry's if we all boycott them and merely don't buy there cd's they can not stop us. There are thousands of sites like www.iMesh.com or www.gnutella.com that do the same thing. They can never ,untill the last human dies, kill napster. Remember two things. Do Not Buy CD's for a four hundred pound, cigar smoking, man who gets sex from only whores will be getting more money. The second thing to remember is Napster will never ever die unless we lose hope.
