"Portal Technology was the brain child of William Scarboro, the 3D Realms programmer whose brainchild it was."

And if you think the engine doesn't scale, you must have some pretty pathetic hardware.

If you knew anything about graphical techniques you'd understand that higher resolution normal and bump maps will remove that looking nasty up close aspect of the doom 3 engine. Not only that, but Doom 3 only looked the way it did, because that's all hardware could handle at the time. Just look at Quake 4 to see how the texture resolution increased. The engine was made to keep being pushed well in to the future.

I hate Doom3 engine, it only look good at distance and takes a lot of top hardware to run well.
BTW If this is another brainless shooter thx but no thx.

b/c they weren't smart enough to use the unreal engine. I believe that's going to be a bad mistake. Assuming it's a heavily modified, that usually equates to horrible performance b/c IDs crap never scales for s**t.

Its kinda ironic that 3d realms is using an id 3d engine

The modifications they've done to the doom 3 engine are really gonna rock. higher resolution mapping and a bucket load of fancy shaders. Maxing this out is gonna push high end systems pretty hard.

Fat Bob, Prey is using the Doom 3 engine but it's definitely not an iD game. Human Head and 3D Realms are behind this...

If I want to play a game with native americans in it, I'll play Custer's Revenge.

Fat Bob

at 6:31 24/4/2006

I find the whole Native American story tie in a bit lame. Game looks good, let's just hope all the hype is really true. ID tends to make games that look nice, but are only worth playing once. I honestly have no erge to go through Doom III or Quake IV again. They were good once, but the replay just isn't there. Hopefully Prey will change that. We'll see...

According ot the preview 2GHz P4*, 384MB RAM, and a DirectX 9 graphics card you should read the story dude...
