Looks like ATI just threw a major monkey wrench into the NV40 plans. A BIG MONKEY WRENCH. ATI did have a ace up it's sleave. More of a ROYAL FLUSH. Looks like ATI will have the only TRUE 16 pipline card for it's next generation card, the R420 or R423.

Can you explain me what's wrong with TRAOD? I have a "shitty" geforce fx5200 and i play it great!
But the game isn't that so goog... it's a shame, because i just loved the TR 1, 2 & 3.And now my opinion: between ATI and NVIDIA there's only the choice, nothing else! ATI may be good in AA, but NVIDIA has better compatibility. They have strong and weak, in different ways. Just... CHOOSE!!!

anyone who says that fx series suck at dx9 games, they are not really right, for egzample halo runs 2 times faster on 5900xt than on 9600xt and the price is the same ;). im not a fanboy this is a fact i have tested both cards on my pc and lots of benchmarks tell so. the other thing is if you are talking about fsaa, nvidia doesn't like this feature, still there is 2x-q aa option on invidia cards wich runs almost the same quality as 4x aa. so beats ati on the mid range market in most cases. of course other dx9 games do not perform so well on invida cards compared to ati's. still 5900xt beats or is equall almost in all test including X2, Spellforce, FarCry, vietcong, homeworld2, igi2. talking about overclockin 5900xt overclocks much more than 9600xt in most cases (there are lots of card manufacturesr wich produce ati and nvidia cards so it would be imposible to compare them all) to conclude i think that only rich people can aford 9800xt so the best option is to look at the mid range market wich ofers 9600xt, 9800SE and 5900xt. 9800SE is peace of sh@$#$# (still some peaople manage to overclock it to 9800xt level, see google ;)) this of cource is dependant to manufacturer. 9600xt is a good card, still it has bugs with some games homeworld2 with aa + shadows for eg. 5900xt is better in most cases than 9600xt still it runs like sh#@$@ with half life 2 beta.

to .64 to .72 features only performance/bug fixes, no new features, they've mearly decided to better advertise them. Popup blockers on a driver level tend to be very efficient so i guess that's that bit's up point. Both nVidia and ATI suck when it comes to customer honesty, ATI have mearly been less obvious this time round. Also the benchmark thing. They're entirely pointless, it's simply a case of how well the card plays the games you like to play.

The UT2K4 problem was with an older driver set - major performance hit for FX owners - seems like the problem's fixed now though. I get about double the framerate now than with the older drivers, and IQ looks the same when I play it.Damn I miss 3DFX... :'(

Well im back for my 3rd post, maybe I should use a name... Well first, Raid, you are right in that a lot of ppl blow off steam in these forums with insensitive comments, hell I was really mad after the first exchange for a bit.
I would also like to say I haven't heard of one issue with Unreal 2004 and Nvida, and I run a variety of boards and drivers.
As to the latest comments, Nvidia didn't put out WIN9X drivers cause windows 98 is no longer supported by the majority of companies. My friend wanted me to put Win98 on his new PC, I laughed in his face cause very few new games will ever support it.

Raid, if you were sincere, thanks. Some people have no problems with ATI drivers, and that's great. But unfortunately I see a lot of examples that disagree. A number of the game patches I install will mention fixes specific to ATI cards, while seldom mention Nvidia ones.
As a side note, I will be using a 9700 pro in a pc im building currently, we'll just see how well she does.
Now as for you mr. anonymous, that really is the only problem with ATI cards. It isn't true now eh? Well Nvidia's cheating is true now either. Why don't we all agree that the past is in the past and judge what is now.

I have a radeon 9700 pro with 4.3 drivers. My buddy has nvidia 5900 fx with forceware 56.72. We both have the same processors at the same speed and the same amount of ram at the same spped. My 3D mark score was 5112 his was 4680 lol

You want a retort, fine. The new ATI drivers still suck balls. I look at an ATI forum and see a load of problems. Nvidia has problems too, but ATI always seems to have the more serious ones. I also am aware of what the optimizations did. I don't really care if they robbed me of a some image quality in the name of performance, because most people won't notice it anyways. BTW, Futuremark benchmarks (synthetic) don't mean shit to me. FX cards may pull off DX9 poorly in the low level cards, but a few FPS is not the end of the world. LOL, you ATI ppl are in denial about the next gen of cards. Sure it's technically all rumors at the moment, but they have already made the cards. Nvidia had their card at Ce-bit, but ATI didn't say shit about their stuff. Sure they could be a little behind in production, but maybe they know they're d**ked....
BTW, the name calling really isn't necessary, could we once have a civilized flame war? :)

It's sad how ATI fanboys have to rip on what is dedicated driver support by Nvidia. I mean for f**ks sake, ATI's drivers always seem to give someone a major pain in the ass, while Nvidia's driver get the job done almost every time.
OMG! I forgot, Nvidia must be cheating with their drivers.... Get over it you f**king babies. Every driver uses optimizations to improve performance. I doubt most of you know wtf was done or lost, you just love bashing Nvidia back when the witch hunt was on.

jesus what wrong with you fanboys and fangirls, roth ati and nvidia are great btw nvidia 5900xt beats 9600xt in most cases and the price is the same. read reviews. after all the price is the thing that maters at the end not who is the king of the hill with flagship cards.
