Anonymous

WTF

at 16:59 25/3/2007

...um what ever happend to dual boot?

Vista is f**king rediculous.... they probably did it so people will have a harder time to do ilegal stuff on XP then legal stuff on vista...

Stupid, let the people do what they want, freedom is what we want not this limitation bulls**t. f**k vista im not buying it

Hi YA
You can make a image of your XP OS before you upgade, Then fdisk and format said Drive.
Vista upgrade can be installed on a clean drive as long as you have formatted the HardDrive as NTFS, Then after installing Vista make another Image of your HardDrive. If you dont like Vista (I did'nt) you can return to your first Image (XP) and later go back to Vista (What ever you fansy).

Injoy

Bill gates is a money hungry whore that can suck my a## and while hes at it can swallow my b#lls untill they taste like candy! Damn bastard makes billions ever year and he thinks he has the right to tell us that we will have to reformat to revert to Xp and even then it wont be licenced!

Bill Gates is a fricken Nerd on Steroids and I wont touch Vista till they get the driver problems sorted out !

You can install Vista Upgrade without losing your XP key. Just clean install Vista without the key (Pick which version you need) then while in Vista run install again from the Vista DVD from within Vista and then enter your Vista key when asked.

gareth, your an idiot. Its not about using XP while your running Vista. If you dont like Vista and you format your hard drive and reinstall XP, it means your key wont work anymore if you try to reactivate it. I'd like the link to your awesome website, Lo0ser .

its easy solved have a pc with vista and a pc with xp like me

Anonymous

at 23:37 5/2/2007

So if I want to revert, that means I must have to contact the BitTorrent tracker I downloaded it from, and ask permission.

Anonymous

at 23:29 5/2/2007

this article is lame. did anyone else notice how it suggests that only men will be using it?

gareth

at 7:24 5/2/2007

megagames i think really has got it wrong... idiots!!!

when you install/upgrade to vista... ofcourse you won't be able to use XP, seriously do the writer of this little piece of crap he likes to call an article really think you will be able to use XP while you're running vista? WTF!?

i like the ps3 because of the propaganda ad they put on the right side just to convert people to think the ps3 Is amazing just like the PS2 ad's.

@ Anonymous below me. After you install Vista your xp can't be activated and you won't be able to use XP after 30 days. This is fixable with a WGA crack but for the majority of people won't know how to use it or don't know about it. You don't need to format every 6 months as long as you keep good care of you hard drive. So basically after you install Vista you XP cd key is black listed.

Anonymous

at 16:42 2/2/2007

pffft so what? this article doesn't tell me s**t. I mean, once someone upgrades to Vista, why would they want to go back? Why would you spend hundreds of dollars without first researching if it's worth it or not? Sure there are problems but they'll get sorted, this happens everytime a new OS is launched. Geez have a cry.

Do u see people still using Windows 95 these days? i DON'T THINK SO. And plus, even if u want to use XP after not liking Vista, just do a format. It's not rocket science. Vista doesn't allow you to degrade back to XP but there's nothing against formatting and installing a fresh copy of XP. in this day and age, most ppl should format once every 6 months anyway.

Anonymous it is called a cracked version. I have never bought XP but I plan on buying Vista. You can use the same serial just get the WGA Patcher lol. It is easy. I can download all the updates with a pirated version.

Anonymous

You all say a lot of stuff, but to all the people who think it's that easy to go back to XP by re-isntalling it fresh, i ask you, no, better yet, i dare you.
Any of you "brave" enough to go and use that license you bought and upgrade to Vista and then try to go back to XP and still beable to use WGA?
You can even use VMware, simple as that, any candidates?

megagames and the art of fact checking do not go hand in hand it seems.......

C Dub

at 19:39 31/1/2007

Looks like M$ F'd up big time anyhow, just upgrade your "upgrade" version of vista for the full version & keep your licence intact!

Anonymous

at 18:20 31/1/2007

i am in now way a vista fan but you all forget...DIRECTX10...its the only place you can get it and by 2k8 a lot of games will be written in it and it makes "next gen" consoles look like garbage....ill pay for that visual splendor thank you

Sammy Boy

at 6:26 31/1/2007

Yes there is a way to get around this. DON'T BUY VISTA.

Anonymous

at 5:5 31/1/2007

So those of us(aka me)who bought windows XP legit are being screwed out of the full length of time the OS is supposed to run.

I upgrade to vista and i have to throw away my licence key?? Is there a way to get around this?

good-good-goog

Anonymous

at 2:26 31/1/2007

exactly that's what the article is saying, your XP key will no longer be valid for activation so reinstalling will not be an option

Anonymous

at 1:37 31/1/2007

and maybe activation won't work

Anonymous

at 1:35 31/1/2007

they will prevent u from downloading updates for ur old xp after u install vista

Anonymous

at 21:17 30/1/2007

As stated by Anon in the first post. It was more a step to prevent people getting upgrade editions and either selling them for use, or for use yourself, on a different PC. A lot of people in the past have purchased an upgrade copy and gone on using both OS's on different PCs. Anyone that wants to cover themselves legally wont do it anymore, everyone else wont notice the difference. I'm sure its just a change in a legal doc*ment, I doubt they'll track it via the genuine validation tool.

at 20:10 30/1/2007

B$ Always way of life ....Dont worry there always work around ^.^Cheerz

Drusenija

at 19:56 30/1/2007

They can't stop you reinstalling XP, however legally you will no longer have a valid license to be using it. Something which won't bother a whole lot of people, millions of Windows XP users haven't had a valid license ever anyway!

CaT

at 19:55 30/1/2007

You guys are lame and so is this article.

It just states that you cant go back to XP because the EULA (end user license agreement) is now for Vista. Of course you can format and install XP fresh, thus using the EULA written specifically for XP.

" Upon upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded from."

And how many Microsoft upgrades were reversible anyway?

duh

at 19:32 30/1/2007

you will be assimilated

activation is futile

wow

at 18:47 30/1/2007

oh wait, nm, u read it again, makes more sense now. Whoopdeedoo just reinstall XP if you dont like it.

wow

at 18:45 30/1/2007

wtf im kinda confuse....how are they to stop people from reinstalling XP???

That is just retarded and nonsensical.

Besides that I really cannot think of a reason why a person should not be able to revert back to whatever OS they want.

MaLt3s3FaLc0n

at 18:5 30/1/2007

s**t im used to backing up and formating anyway aint no damn skin off my nose fk vista and bill gates

????

at 17:14 30/1/2007

Anonymous

at 15:25 30/1/2007

This is when programs like Prtition magic enter BIll GAYtes and HER shiity monopoly don't have the right to tell what version you will use M$ can suuck C0CK

RichGC

at 15:4 30/1/2007

Seems like this article is a load of FUD to me. I read it as you pay less to upgrade but in return you cant go selling your XP license to someone else.

If people desperately want to downgrade back to XP then you will just have to backup your data and do a fresh install of XP.
