Umm about that modem optimizer you just think it slowed down your modem. slowing the modems connection speed by a very tiny amount actually is a trick that makes the modem go faster. confused??? read on and every thing will be explained. when your modem connects to the internet the your modem and your isp modem see how fast they can connect with out losing to many data packets to static. Yet the way its done is very ineffective because if you where to slowwer the speed just a fraction more you would get NO lost packets meaning that your modem is actually getting more information. So it really did speed up your connection unless the phone wire to your house was replaced in the last six mounths or so even then it might speed it up a little. Well i hope you all that where having modem problems read this to fix your problems and maybe reinstate your modem optimizations. Best of luck (BTW if you have bought what is refered to as a "gamming" modem it has settings that already do this for you.)

Worked fine on my Celeron 500 with Windows 2000. It improved speed in general about 50MHz at least. Windows menus and things open and close about double speed. I didn't try the modem because mine's fine already (and I read previous posts, lol).

same thing happened to me like what happened to demon,i ussually connected at 32,000bps and his tweak brought my modem down to 14,000bps. so i recommend not using the modem tweaks.But everything else is good cause it did make my proccessor a little faster

The modem optimizer is crap. It reduced my speed by 4000 bps. Everything else is OK.
